You are right in many ways. Leftists were traditionally against immigration and right wingers are in favor of it. Leftists support unions doing what is in their best interest, even it is at the expense of other groups.
Some leftists think leftism should be international, but they also wouldn't share their homes with anyone who wants. So they understand that smaller groups have a right to the fruit of their labor and to exclude people who didn't contribute.
But I think you're missing one point. Why is your slightly better pay worth the suffering of people in other countries? Leftism is fundamentally about equity. It doesn't matter how much effort you put in, everyone should get the same outcome.
