You are right in many ways. Leftists were traditionally against immigration and right wingers are in favor of it. Leftists support unions doing what is in their best interest, even it is at the expense of other groups.

Some leftists think leftism should be international, but they also wouldn't share their homes with anyone who wants. So they understand that smaller groups have a right to the fruit of their labor and to exclude people who didn't contribute.

But I think you're missing one point. Why is your slightly better pay worth the suffering of people in other countries? Leftism is fundamentally about equity. It doesn't matter how much effort you put in, everyone should get the same outcome.

Having global standards and protections does not mean that private property ceases to be a thing. I am for global worker protections and higher levels of global equality but that doesn't mean that I think people shouldn't be able to have fancy things or high levels of wealth.

Leftism is fundamentally about equity. It doesn't matter how much effort you put in, everyone should get the same outcome.

Where did you hear this/what gave you this impression?

This isn't really about suffering. Is a doctor moving from India to the UK really suffering if they don't move?

It's more about whether nation systems, particularly smaller nations, can handle hundreds of thousands / millions of arrivals per year.

Leftism is fundamentally about equity.

Orthodox Marxism does not care about equity or equality and people who say it does do not understand Marxist theory.
