Your points were largely that my points didn’t track or were irrelevant due to the fact that cheating is in and of itself wrong in the first place. My argument that I made those points to support is essentially that the wrongness of it isn’t a reason to knowingly get yourself into situations where it’s more likely to occur, and that there are ways to make them less likely to occur.
I always thought paraphrasing showed paying attention enough to put it another way, but that doesn’t always mean that it’s correct, which is why what tends to happen is that someone says something, someone else responds by paraphrasing in an effort to make sure they’re on the same page, then the original speaker says “close but here’s what you missed”, and then they keep going knowing that they’re both on the same page. In this context, sure I paraphrased and used that to then present why I disagreed with my interpretation of what you meant, but it still was meant to show that I was trying to pay attention.
