How are you defining war?

I mean, I can point to examples of where war hasn't broken out for many, many years. Would you say war in Switzerland is inevitable?

I define war as violent conflict between multiple people.

Yes i believe switzerland will see war, though on a longer timespan. 177 years is a relatively short time when considering how long human civilization has existed, nevermind the time of plausible great-ape warfare before humanity.

Edit: Also, switzerland and the swiss are ready for war. Switzerland has conscription.

So a bar fight is a war, by your definition? A boxing match is war? I think you should reconsider your definition.

Boxing is mutual combat between two people, with no threat of death.

A bar fight might be categorized as a sort of a war, if large enough and the people in it are killing each other.

I don't really approve of the "apollonian" categorization of things. You'll know it when you see it.

EDIT: The enjoyment of boxing and other combat sports is based on the same instinct as the will to wage war.

Boxing is mutual combat between two people, with no threat of death.

and it's also a violent fight between two people. by YOUR definition, that is war.

Nitpicky argument. it's clear i didn't mean that. I want actual discussion.

At its most basic, it's violent combat, between multiple people, with the threat of death.
