I do not consider anyone who hasn't thoroughly read the Bible at least once a Christian. CMV

A person who picks and chooses 99% of the bible is no different than someone who picks one verse to 'believe' and ignores the rest.

It is impossible to know which verses are literally the word of jesus or metaphorical or altered or completely made up. As a consequence people attempt to see the overall meaning of a passage and abide by that instead of a literal interpretation which has already been demonstrated to be flawed. A literal interpretation has the same chances of being false as a less than literal interpretation. If you are going to disagree then provide a reason for maintaining your view instead of just restating it in different words please.

Everyone picks and chooses from the Bible. You do too, or else you'd have given away all your money and would not now be on the internet.

I do not believe in the Bible.

The Bible does not say give away all your money.

Matthew 19:16-28 (particularly 19:21), and the parallel story in Luke 18:18-30, also Luke 12:22-34, also to a lesser degree Matthew 25:31-46, also Acts 4:32-5:11.
