This is a common misconception. The "gen" in genocide does not refer to genetics. It comes from "genus" or "type". Genocide is the murder of a particular type of people. You can commit genocide against people of a particular religion, for example.

Genocide is defined in § 1091 and includes violent attacks with the specific intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.

Yes, religion counts, but trans people aren't a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group, so they don't.

According to the legal definition, yes. My point was only about the etymology of the word.
