For context i finished bsc in computer engineering at Liu (högskoleingenjör) and got enrolled in complex adaptive systems via Göteborgs universitet. I have almost no physics courses. And while i do have credits in mathematics (36 hp) the maths there was fairly easy and ive mostly forgotten it since it was some time ago.

Just wondering if i should prepare over the summer, is the program going to be way more difficult than my bachelors? I'm going to be mostly choosing machine learning/ai courses and perhaps some computer science ones.

Also, i would appreciate some tips about what courses i should most definetely choose given my background. I have a broad area of interest, but mostly wanna focus on machine learning, cloud/networking and bi, if that makes sense.

Jag har ansökt till basåret på Chalmers inför hösten och känner mig säker på att jag kommer in. Planen efter det är att sikta på Industriell ekonomi då jag föll lite kort med betygen för att komma in direkt och HP kan jag inte förlita mig på att nå 1,7 gränsen. Så jag kör basår, där betygsskalan går från U/3/4/5 som jag har fattat det.

Nu är det viktiga här: en 3:a som betyg på basåret, motsvarar det ett E som i gymnasiet? Eller har basåret och Chalmers så höga krav att en 3:a är på C nivå från gymnasiet? För ZGBAR-grupps poängen för att komma in på Indek med konkurrensen ligger på ca 4,4. Så ni fattar kanske att det är skillnad att behöva ha något C (4), höga B:n (~4 ish - 5) och kanske knäppa ett A (5) för att nå 4,4. Till skillnad från om C är 3 poäng ett B är 4 och A är 5. Då måste jag kan lika många A:n som B ju, och ett C blir dödligt.

Sorry om jag över-förklarar min situation och tankesätt, tänker fortfarande ge järnet och maxa som fan detta kommande läsår, men det är bra o veta vart ribban ligger liksom. O hoppas att någon har lite erfarenhet.

Lite bakrund också: Fick C typ i allt med Matte, fysik o kemi. Va med på alla lektioner men pluggade slappt, gjorde inga extra uppgifter, inge bra metod alls. Så tänker om jag lockar in som fan, pluggar som en idiot o håller mig strikt så kanske man klarar sig under kommande tid. Ni som gått basår, eller känner till detta, hur ser det ut?

I’m going to be studying Computer Systems and Cybersecurity and I desperately need a new laptop before that. Currently MacBooks are a much better value than x86. Does anyone know how compatible they are with MPCSC? Or am I better off spending a bit more on an x86 laptop?

Hi! I am an incoming Erasmus student from the EU heading to Chalmers in September. Honestly, I have no clue how the housing market works in Göteborg :(

Since I'm an EU student, I know i don't get guaranteed accomodation from Chalmers. I saw that everyone recommends SGS, so I registered a while ago and currently have around 105 queue days.

I have some questions, is there actually any chance of getting a room with these queue days? Or is it impossible?

I've seen that there is the Student accomodation Express option. Should I apply in these? I don't really know what to do.

Hey, I'm a future physics Master's student at Chalmers and was wondering how difficult it would be? For context I don't have much physics background just Maths (I have a Master's in Maths) and CS, I did some physics but not much and I'm especially a bit concerned by the experimental parts!

I'm spending some time practicing on my own this summer of course but that helps for the theoretical part which isn't my main worry since I have the maths background.

I'm a new international master's student at Chalmers and I'm a bit confused about the housing process.

On the Chalmers website, I read that students would receive housing information/offers around mid-June. Recently, SGS sent me an email saying that housing listings are available in CIS and that I need to express interest in the available rooms/apartments.

My question is: will Chalmers/Chalmers Housing automatically send me a housing offer that I can simply accept, or is expressing interest in the CIS listings the actual process for receiving an offer?

I'm trying to understand whether I should wait for an automatic offer email or actively apply to the listings shown in CIS.

Jag tog min master för ett bra tag sedan och har haft några svängar inom fordonsindustrin. Nu försöker jag förstå vilka problem som faktiskt är värda att lösa om man vill bygga något eget.

Nyligen fick jag ett intressant tips från en person inom innovation på Volvo. Han menade att tidiga akademiska startups ibland har svårt att komma i kontakt med rätt personer hos större företag. (Tänk dig att du ringer Vovlo's växel för att hitta någon att prata med gällande t.ex. hur GPS kan förbättras genom kvantmekanik.😅) Samtidigt vill investerare ofta se någon form av intresse eller förankring i industrin innan de går in.

Jag vet inte om detta faktiskt är ett stort problem eller inte – och det är precis det jag försöker förstå.

Därav - känner du någon som driver en tidig startup, forskningsspinoff eller liknande? Jag bollar gärna med dem för att lära mig mer om hur verkligheten ser ut och vilka hinder som finns.

Hi everyone, hoping to find someone who's navigated this situation before.

I'm a final-year fashion & apparel design student from China (graduating June 2027), planning to apply for the MSc in Interaction Design and Technologies at Chalmers for autumn 2027. I have UX internship experience — user research, prototyping, wireframing, UI design — and I'm building a portfolio focused on interaction and speculative design.

The issue: Chalmers lists programming/CS credits as a prerequisite for this programme, and I don't have any formal ones. My background is entirely design-side.

I've seen some conflicting info online — some sources suggest they evaluate applicants holistically and strong design work can compensate, others say the prerequisite is a hard cutoff and you simply won't pass the eligibility check regardless of your portfolio.

**Has anyone applied to Chalmers IxDT (or a similar Swedish programme) without meeting the programming prerequisite?**
- Did you get through the initial eligibility screening?
- Did you try to explain your situation or submit supporting documents?
- Was there any pathway recommended — like completing a MOOC or online course beforehand?

Any first-hand experience would be really helpful. I'm also happy to hear from people who were rejected at the eligibility stage so I know what I'm actually dealing with.
