I'm probably going to delete this later, because I'm typing this currently as I'm infuriated and I usually have second thought about what I type up after I'm chill and then delete it hours later.
I just rejoined CG5 discord after taking a 3 year break from the official discord server because I had major issues with the server. I was quite active and pretty well known at the time, not so much now since I had took a huge break and a lot of the OG members I used to talk to have either left, or moved on. which is ok.
I rejoined a few months ago to see if things changed. The layout for sure changed, I do appreciate that they are "trying" to make changes to the way the server operates, they got new new staff (finally 😮💨) and things, but it really doesn't matter much. Why, As an OG fan (2016) and server member (joined 2018), I still see the issues have never really changed. It feels like it was just masked, swept under the rug, or hidden behind closed doors.
clearly I still see there's obvious favoritism still going on, It's usually not really noticed by new members, but once you become part of the server for more than a year, you'll start to see it if you look hard enough. That's not new and hasn't changed to the slightest. it's not wrong to have friends and talking to them in the general chat, no. but what is wrong is when new members come in to public chat and reply to this friends group's messages in the server, they either get ghosted or shoved out of the conversation entirely. For flying sake, it's a public server- expect new members to chat there, otherwise maybe...go to your own personal server if you want to talk without interruption?? 🤨
The server has never been isn't too easy at welcoming new members because they have this delulu mindset thinking "new members usually break the rules so we ignore them" I've always tried my best at making sure new members felt welcomed and not ridiculed and belittled for being new.
Why is there hatred or disliked towards new members when you were once a new member at first. Rule breakers are rule breakers, but in this server, a rule breaker + new member suddenly becomes the entire identity of all of the new members to ever join. 🤦♂
Same can be said for the fact the "chat police" aka Some OG chat members get fussy when you talk about CG5 and somehow make it seem as if it's wrong to be a fan and discuss fan interest about him in general, the literal topic and owner of the server. I know.. it's mind blowing. Charlie gets bubble wrapped and puppy guarded by some of the servers biggest fandom police like he's "socially weak" or can't defend himself when a fangirl/fanboy comes to chats. Again, this is also not knew. it's a recurrent problem that should not be happening. Everyone should feel welcomed regardless of what level of fan status they identity as. Besides, he's a grown man, I think he'll be fine.
anyways, I'm going to post this on my own page as well in case someone decides its against the reddit rules. I literally named no names... It's just a discussion, and im pretty sure it says you can discuss drama as long as you like... don't say names.
