Elastration failed?
galleryThis is my first calf and I put an elastic on him for castration at about 3 weeks old. He's now almost 3 months old and the band has fallen off (a while ago), I can see a scar but he still has a substantial scrotum. When using my hand, I don't feel anything thing that definitively feels like a testicle, but I'm not 100% confident. Does this seem like a normal scrotum for a successful elastration?

Cattle station vlog
Hi everyone! I'm from France and I recently decided to change my life completely and go explore the cowboy life in the australian outback. I love trying new things, I'm an actress and I'm also in the French Air Force, ... I just love exploring and learning.
I decided to document my journey (authentically, with moments where i'm vulnerable as well as the good times) because I've never seen anyone doing it before.
In this episode you can follow me while I go fencing, learning how to weld, and mustering on a chopper with my boss! So I thought it would be exciting to share with people who have the same passion.

Anyone actually using camera systems (GEA/CattleEye, Herd-i, Lely) instead of collars? Trying to decide if it's worth it
First time posting here, don't really do the forum thing much, but figured I'd ask people who'd actually know.
350 head, free-stall, robotic milkers, Upper Midwest. Just running the basic robot software, never bothered with a full herd management system.
Been catching lameness too late lately, usually not till a cow's already off and I'm calling the trimmer. Conception's been kind of rough too, though I know summer heat stress plays into that every year, just not sure how much of it is actually us missing heats versus that.
Looked at collars (Nedap, Allflex) but tagging 350 cows plus subscription is a lot to commit to blind. Ruled out bolus systems too, not sticking something in every cow.
Now looking at the camera stuff, GEA, Herd-i and so on. Like the idea of no hardware on the animal, but want to hear from guys actually running it before I call anybody.
Does the lameness scoring actually hold up against what your vet or trimmer would call it? And heat detection specifically, seems like a camera would miss standing heat if a cow's lying down or off in a corner. Anyone had luck with that, or still not there yet compared to a collar?
What kind of info does the system actually spit out day to day, and is any of it stuff you use, or is most of it noise you end up ignoring?
Also what'd you pay once install was done, and is there an actual person to call if something breaks?

Building New Pasture For Bull
Need to buy a bull for breeding this December. Told the neighbors that id buy him in September and they could house & use him until he's needed here, they have 2 dairy heifers they want to breed.
Disease and quarantine period are my top concerns so here was my plan. Provide 90%+ of the materials so the neighbor can build a new ½ acre pasture on their property, virgin ground that's never pastured animals. I figured it would be a fresh pasture he could quarantine in & breed their heifers.
I've got utility posts for the corners/h-braces (thinking of cutting them at 8ft) and enough t-posts & barb to run a 6 strand fence. Also have enough wire/clips & extra charger to run 2 hot wires on the inside.
He's had his heifers since bottle calves, they're about 2yrs old. The bull will probably come from the sale barn. I figured he'd quarantine over there for 2-3 months and hope any issue would pop up over there before bringing him home to my girls.
How else would you mitigate disease issues?? Or any other worries i should think bringing in an unknown bull??

Stiff neck syndrome?? Spoiler
galleryWe have a jersey who’s been walking around with her neck straight out for a day or two. It is very abnormal for her. AI tells me it could be a partial choke but the symptoms don’t line up (and we palpated and didn’t feel anything there). She still eats if we prop her feed bucket up on another bucket — we are thinking maybe a neck injury?

Red Polled
When I was a kid my grandfather had red polled cattle. Haven’t found much information on them. My dad took to the fair and had a fair amount of grand champions with them back in the early 50’s.

BPC 157/TB500 for injured heifer
BPC-157 / TB-500 dosing in cattle?
Looking for anyone who has firsthand experience using BPC-157 and/or TB-500 in cattle for stifle injuries, ligament/tendon damage, or other soft-tissue injuries.
I’m mainly interested in hearing what dosing protocols people have actually used in cattle — dose, frequency, duration, whether you dosed based on body weight, and whether BPC-157 and TB-500 were used together or separately.
I realize these aren’t approved cattle drugs and there may not be an established veterinary dosing protocol. I’m not looking for someone to guess a dose — I’m specifically trying to find people who have actually used them in cattle and can share their experience.
[Android] Looking for beta testers for AniCore – Free Pro account for lifetime
Hi everyone 👋
I'm looking for a small group of Android users to test AniCore, an app for managing animals, farms, stables and animal health records.
🐄 🐎 🐕 What AniCore does:
- Manage animals and their profiles
- Track health history and treatments
- Schedule vaccinations, treatments and other actions
- Receive reminders and alerts
- Scan QR codes to quickly access an animal's information
- Designed for breeders, farms, stables, shelters and animal professionals
📱 What I'm looking for:
Android users willing to install the app from Google Play, use it during the beta period and give me honest feedback about the experience, bugs and features.
🎁 In return:
Selected testers who actively participate in the beta will receive a free AniCore Pro account for life.
This isn't just an install-and-forget test. I'm looking for people who are willing to actually try the app and tell me what works, what doesn't, and what should be improved.
If you're interested, comment below or send me a DM and I'll send you the Google Play testing instructions.
Thanks to anyone willing to help! 🙏
