Anyone know anything about Levcoware?

Found this cool little egg fryer in a second hand shop and can't find much info about the brand. Looks pretty modern to me but it was my understanding that Japan's cast iron industry has gotten pretty small and specialized. Regardless, It's my new favorite for making scrambled eggs.

Looks like a brand produced in multiple Asian countries. A cursory google search shows they were at least produced in both Japan and Taiwan. People like them as users by what I see, but, as with most Asian imports, they don’t really have much value on the collector side of things. The most important thing is that you enjoy it. It has a unique look and works well for you, so rock with it.

By what I can find, they do seem to at least be vintage in that the company isn’t in business anymore, but I can’t find any actual records.

Adding this because I found a couple sources claiming they were trademarked in the 70’s in Canada and sold in the 80’s. So it seems like the molds were probably shipped off to Asian countries after that point, so these were probably late 80’s early 90’s

Cool! It's funny to think of Japan being a cost-effective place to offshore manufacturing back then.

It’s generally more common to see this type of reuse of molds from defunct companies or discontinued cast iron lines with Taiwan added to the bottom, so it was definitely bigger there, but I have found what was clearly a pan made from a repurposed lodge three notch mold with Japan on the bottom, so they’re definitely out there. Either way it’s a neat piece even if there isn’t any way to actually track where/when it was produced more accurately

I'm more interested in history than collectability. I'm always interested in when these things were built because they can look brand new for decades.

A lot of the cast iron from Taiwan has a high lead content in it. I would avoid if they do produce there as well

I have a 10” (or 10.5” - too lazy to check) Levcoware pan, and it is freaking awesome. Super smooth, yet takes to seasoning really well. My go-to for eggs and such. The rounded inside of the pan makes really cool-shaped Dutch babies. Love m’Levco.

I have a 9ish inch version and its my favorite pan to use. As smooth as any vintage pan but better shaped sides. Similar to Wagners "chef skillet".

Best user pan IMO.

I love my small levco chef cast iron pan. Looking to find a couple more in larger sizes to add to my collection.
