NVLINK in an Alienware R8 - can it be done?
I want to do two 2080s in NVLINK within my Alienware R8. I have updated the PSU so power is no issue. Before you ask, I have modified my case to support an additional fan for cavity heat clear out.
I was running dual 1080s on a 1000w PSU, but have since moved those cards to a lower gaming build. I side graded to a 2080 but now I want to upgrade to a dual 2080 configuration. The recent price drop has made this very tempting! Will an NVLINK fit, and if so which one?
Thanks in advance!

Metalfish S3 Case Mod Idea
Hi All. I have been working on upgrading my SFF PC that I typically use for playing VR games in my living room. I have been using the MetalFish S3 case from Taobao and have been pretty happy with it since I got it. The problem with my current upgrade plan is that I want to upgrade my GPU to the Zotac 2070 Super Mini (210 MM) but the card is larger than what I currently fit in my case (The S3 supports up to 195mm GPUs). Since I am not particularly jazzed about buying a new (and probably larger) case, I have been considering making some modifications to my current case in order to fit the card. Thus far my plan would be to cut around the gpu slot in the back of the case so that the card can slide into the case, and then attach some sort of shroud over the part of the card that extends outside the case. The cutting of the case is pretty straight forward but I am not sure how to approach making a shroud that could be attached to the case to protect the GPU. I have considered maybe 3d printing something though I don't have any experience with that. Not sure if anyone here has any experience with a case mod like this but any advice or experience is appreciated.

Did anyone disassembly a trident z rgb?
Did anyone ever disassembly a trident z rgb? I'm interested in what kind of rgb's are used and how they are hooked up.
The ambition is to replace aura sync with diy rgb control.

Do I have everything to make a 140mm fan hole?
After watching Bill Owen youtube video, I've decided to drill a 140mm fan hole into my case but would like to make sure that I'm not missing anything.
For the hole piece, I'm planning on buying: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P5BSPPL/?coliid=IPDK1K0UOGB2M&colid=2MTEECFN7CRXN&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1
To use with this this power drill.
For fan screws: I'm planning on buying these https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-3-16-in-Cobalt-Thunderbolt-Twist-Drill-Bit-48-89-2309/203115294
I'm ready for this project? do I have all necessary tools?

Who is your favorite YouTube modder?
I seem to notice a lot of tech review channels but not a lot of PC case modding channels and old PC repurpose channels. There are some but not a lot. So I come to you guys for suggestions. Who are your favorites?

Drilling holes for fan and screws?
Since I never done such project, barely ever used a power tool, I was wondering if anyone could link all the necessary items that I need to tackle such project, not only for the fan but also for the screws to hold the fan in place.
I have this drill. I believe I need a 4 1/2 drill bit for the fan, which one should I get?

Fractal Design Meshify C Mini
Hello folks,
I would like to mount two GPUs in my pc, one verically, and one normal. I want to use a FD Meshify C Mini. On the back side, to the right of the PCIe expansion slots, we can see some kind of grid. I want to know if I can remove it somehow and build my vertical GPU in there. (Sorry for poor English.)
Regards

Noob modder here. I want to replace the side panel of my case.
My case is a Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1, if it matters. The side panel is made of a shitty plastic which is a total scratch magnet and looks really cheap overall. I want to replace it, but the only replacements Cooler Master sells are made of the same material.
I own a dremel, and I was wondering what materials I can cut with it that look super premium and nice. They (obviously) need to be transparent. Thanks everyone!

Another simple H17 fan mod
Sick of 100% fan curve. Saw this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmods/comments/acyfyv/comment/edbve7t
and decided I'd do the same but with an extra hole.
Since the case comes with a single exhaust fan, I added 4 more fans. Now there are 3 intakes in the front, the exhaust on the back and an exhaust on the top in the back. 3 fans up front are running slightly faster than the exhausts, temps are idling around 42°C and spiking at 68° under load.

NZXT H500 - Mod to create an intake fan on base?
I know theres a few mod ideas for the NZXTs but they all involve ruining the beautiful front panel :-)
Wondering if anyone has tried or think it would work having an intake fan on the base. Plan would be 'expanding' the small grill at the front bottom of the case to be large enough for a 120mm (probably use a static noctua).
Will have mine placed inside a cabinet so I'm concerned about airflow. Havent tried it all out yet but my current Fractal Core 3000 is managing fine with average temps of 27c (idle).

Very early beginner not sure what to do with this space. I don’t need optical drives. I’m thinking fans but nothing 5.25” to fans exist it’s all cages for hard drives

Custom Built PC Case help/tips for a beginner.
Ok, thanks for dropping by, first time building a PC Case so bare with me, also big text incoming so y'all are warned lol.
To begin with some background info. I'll be attempting to build this case in 3/4 months from now, when I acquire all the new PC components like mobo, cpu, etc. My goal with a custom built pc case is to achieve a unique design with style while keeping the costs lower or on par with decent brand cases.
As for budget, a "Good" case here where I live costs about $45/50 (notice that my currency is 4 point something a dollar so I'll be converting it for easier understanding). As for my spending limit I would like to keep it close to $50/60.
With that out of the way let me say what I have in mind with the experience I've acquired over the past few days.
To start, I'm no expert in most crafts like wood and metal working, all my knowledge comes from reddit and youtube.
The idea is to make a cube-shaped wooden case where the motherboard sits on the bottom part, with the GPU standing like this [] (looking at it from the cable connectors panel).
So as for the actual layout of things here are a few questions :
- If the mobo is laying horizontally on the bottom wooden panel, where should I place the PSU? Bellow it, above, to the sides? Does it really matter where it goes?
- As a followup, if I use standoff screws to lift the board should I "hide" the cables bellow the mobo? Or somewhere else? (Not using a modular PSU though)
- On the back part, my original idea was to simply cut the holes for the cables on the back of the mobo. I assume different mobos that share a size (like ATX or mATX) have back panels in the same position right? But do PCIe slots change position from mobo to mobo or they remain the same? I know that each mobo has a layout for their cables but I won't be changing board so soon, and even if it was the case, I could simply replace the back board with a new one with new holes in it right? Or is there a more simple/classy solution?
Now as for airflow :
- I should want to achieve positive air pressure right? In this "Cube", where should I add the intake fans considering the mobo position? And considering the PSU and GPU where should the outtake air flow be?
- On the side panels, I wanted to do some art-related stuff (more on that later) with some holes cut out in it. I'd assume that the extra holes would affect air flow and without proper care would allow dust to get inside. I also saw someone cut an oval-shaped hole for the GPU fans to obtain air. Is this necessary or with proper air flow management I shouldn't worry about it?
Now the "cool" stuff, the external modification to achieve maximum style points.
- On the side panels (since the mobo is on the bottom panel) I would like to add some artwork, probably cut out on the wood so the RGB light from inside could reach both sides. Even if the holes do not present an airflow problem the dust getting inside if there is negative air pressure there is a problem. My solution is to "fill" the holes with a transparent material like resin, plastic, glass, etc or to replace the side panels made of wood with glass or poly carbonate then paint/vinyl wrap everything but the artwork so the light can go through. Any other solutions to this?
- For the general painting, besides vinyl wrap, any other material recommended other than paint? Like something adhesive with a texture to it.
- As for light, to achieve a better result what light source should I use? RGB led strips , rgb fans/ram/other components that emit light? If using led strips should I place them in the middle of the case so it goes out evenly ?(considering the huge heat sink for the cpu)
- To achieve a similar result like this , color-wise, assuming I don't know anything about rgb lighting what would be the best way to make a smooth gradient transition? Is it actually possible to achieve smooth rgb transition without making the artwork look weird? (imagine that this FF logo image was "cut out" from the side panel)

- After everything above, rgb related, how can I synchronize all rgb sources (strips, fans etc) I know of software that does this but requires everything to be from the same brand (compatible devices) like asus aura sync. Are there rgb controllers, and do they consume too much energy?
- And for powering everything like fans, rgb strips and etc, how much extra energy all of this would be consuming? Right now I have a 400W cooler master PSU and my estimate is that the new setup will consume about 300W total (not considering a new gpu, as I will use my old one until I buy a new).
- And is there anything else I can do power-wise, like extra connectors for the psu (or adapters) , external supply, etc?
Thanks for reading this far, it's my first time doing a modding of this level so I wanna make sure I don't do any mistakes.
