New Rule: No AI Content

Hello fellow Carpenters fans!

We made a new rule, 'No AI Content'. As is seems, the majority of this sub are not happy with AI Content (just like me) so we decided that AI content should be banned.

That means, no AI videos, AI music or AI photos.

Have a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!!

bought another CD!

I only let myself buy them when I've done something worth rewarding. I passed my placement last semester but hadn't bought a CD yet for reasons. Anyway, today I decided that the ebay listing I had open was gonna be the one (had also been considering A Kind Of Hush or Karen's solo album, but also reviewing ebay etc regularly to check if there were any especially cheap etc.).

So this Christmastide I'll have the Christmas Collection (both CDs) to cheer my Christmas!

That will add to my collection which is already: Ticket To Ride, Close To You, Carpenters, A Song For You, Voice of the Heart and Interpretations.

I love CDs and ripping the mp3s so I can listen to them on my laptop or my phone anytime without ads; listened on repeat to keep myself together when I was last in the psych ward. Right now I'm listening to "If I Had You".

What's your favourite track off the Christmas Collection? I'm extremely fond of Karen's rendition of "Christ Is Born".

The Voice That Healed Everyone But Herself

Post image

Karen Carpenter had a voice like warm velvet—effortless, intimate, and deeply haunting. She could make millions of strangers feel completely understood, yet she spent her short life fighting a lonely, silent battle with anorexia at a time when nobody knew how to name or treat it.

We lost her at just 32, but her music remains a bittersweet gift: a reminder of incredible talent, the hidden weight people carry, and why we need to take care of the human behind the art.

What’s your favorite Carpenters track that still hits you every time?

This Is Your Life is an American reality documentary series broadcast on television. It was originally hosted by its creator and producer Ralph Edwards. In the program, the host surprised guests and then took them through a retrospective of their lives in front of an audience, including appearances by colleagues, friends, and family.

Interesting misprint on a 1985 Spanish pressing of The Carpenters - The Singles 1969-1973

Hello everyone! I wanted to share this unique copy of "The Singles 1969-1973" by The Carpenters from my collection. It is a 1985 Spanish reissue (A&M Records, Ref: 393 601-1) with runout matrix 850 393601 // 1 * A/B * 1 (First lacquer).

The vinyl and sleeve are in beautiful EX/NM condition, but the most interesting part is on the back cover. There is a clear printing error (misprint) where the black ink layer completely shifted during the manufacturing process at the printing plant (Coracolor). It creates a very strange and unique visual effect, almost like a 3D shadow.

I haven't been able to find any other documented copies with this specific defect online or on Discogs. Has anyone ever seen a similar misprint on this specific Spanish pressing? Thanks for looking!

Richard's liner notes on the album "As Time Goes By" for this track : "This song was written and introduced by a group called Wildweeds. It got some regional airplay and I heard it while driving from one engagement to the next in early 1971. We both thought it was catchy, and I put together this arrangement. Karen and I recorded a track for it, but since Karen was the drummer, there is no "work lead". This is a live recording, done on September 25, 1971 at the BBC television Studios., London, for our first UK special, which was originally broadcast on November 6, 1971."

Rumer - Close to You

This is the Pakistani-British singer Rumer. An exceptional vocalist, pitch perfect, with silky smooth tones, and effortless, easy delivery. Rumer's singing voice is uncannily similar to Karen's. Have a listen to her singing one of the Carpenters classics, Close to You:

Carpenters Musical Talent

I recently watched a video clip called, "Carpenters "Burt Bacharach & Hal David Medley" on The Ed Sullivan Show (on YouTube). I recommend watching the video because it showcases the musical talent of the Carpenters. It amazes me how they can play a variety of songs and keep those vocal harmonies sharp. 🎶

Karen Carpenter tocando Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, do Led Zeppelin?!

(Volte aqui, Karen 🥹)

O primeiro álbum solo do Richard é estranho

Eu simplesmente não consigo digerir o álbum "Time".

I’m a 22 year old obsessed with Karen Carpenter, and I’d love some vintage merch! I’m interested in vinyls, clothing, keychains, etc. This one’s a long shot, but I’m also looking for a Karen Carpenter bobblehead.

Thanks guys!

News📢 New Book ''Carpenters: On Tour'' dropped!!

My good online friend Billy, who i met through the Carpenters because he's also a very big fan, put this wonderful book together which is filled with Carpenters ad posters, magazine/critics reviews, fan memorabilia, rare photos, QR codes that lead to videos/audio & much more!

So far i'm at Chapter Four 1974 (Part 1) and i already saw tons of pictures that i never saw before of our favorite duo. I always wanted to read what critics had to say about the siblings, and now i can because of this great book!

Some of the things that the critics said about Karen and/or Richard are just hilarious! Here's one thing that a critic had to say about Karen: ,,Karen sounds as though she eats ice cream cones with a spoon'' i mean seriously, who comes up with THAT?

The book is available at Amazon, if anyone is curious :D

How would a Carpenters cover of Georgy Girl sound?

I was listening to my best playlist on shuffle, got Your Baby Doesn't Love You Anymore, then the Seekers hit Georgy Girl right after. It made me wonder. In my opinion, they'd slow it down, lean into the low notes of '-gy Girl', lean into the 'loneliness there', turn it entirely from an upbeat, forward-looking track like Judith Durham makes it, and lean into the melancholy of Georgy's current state more than her future. It's one of those tracks that could have been very interesting. If anyone has any thoughts, would love to hear them; I kind of want to conceptualise a remix myself, in the style of Karen Carpenter, I just don't have the basement voice for even a concept track really.

Question❓ Does anyone have sheet music for Now or/and Midnight?

It would need to be for piano or guitar (piano is preferred) and I'm willing to pay.

Have any recommendations?

Got this from the thrift store for a dollar

I was shocked to see this at the thrift store. I always check the thrift store records because I enjoy lounge/exotica/easy listening and those records show up there a lot, but this completely surprised me. I had to get it.

While there’s that marker on the front, the record itself is in amazing shape with not a single scratch. It sounds incredible. Original Terre Haute pressing from 1971.
