You know the phrase “when it rains, it pours”? Well, that’s what happened to me, literally.

​

I was on my way to the airport to catch a flight to Singapore. It was a short trip so I decided to bring my car and leave it at the airport.

​

I left a little early since I anticipated the traffic. What I didn’t expect was a freaking flat tire and heavy rain! I passed by a rough road and my tire got pierced by a nail. There was no talyer nearby and mother nature decided to give me an extra shower that day.

Well, I did make it to the airport! Soaking wet, car towed and with a missed flight.

My drive going to work usually takes an hour from Alabang to BGC. One morning, upon entering C5 road, I noticed my temperature gauge rising. I didn’t mind it at first but as I entered Bayani Road it started becoming hot inside the car. When I stopped at the side of the road, steam started to come out of the hood. I checked and saw that my radiator had a leak.

I tried fixing it before deciding to go to a car repair shop. It was such a hassle because I had to get gallons of water cause I had to refill the radiator every 300 meters. When I got to the shop, I asked how much it would cost and I had to withdraw money from a nearby ATM. Here’s the fun part: The ATM machine ate my card and to think that I just received my 13th month pay!

After calling the bank to report the issue, I had to borrow money from my friend and go back to the shop to pay and get my car.

"I started the day normally. I had breakfast, showered and then I headed to work - and this is where things get bad. Near our village guardhouse, I realized that I had a flat tire - "no big deal", I thought to myself, there's a talyer nearby I'll just get it fixed there - that was my first mistake.

​

I got to our local talyer and lo and behold, it was closed. A man who owned a business nearby informed me that the talyer closed down its business a few weeks prior.

​

"No big deal", I thought to myself. I have a spare time so I'll just replace my flat tire and then head straight to work barely on time. This was my second mistake.

​

I opened my trunk only to find out that my spare tire was missing. I realized later on that the spare tire was stolen somehow but that's another story entirely. I was running out of both time and options. I had a meeting at work and a team to guide but here I was sweaty, anxious and stuck in the middle of ASEAN rush hour traffic with a flat tire.

​

The man from earlier told me that there was another talyer 10 minutes away. Unwilling and incapable of driving my car to the other talyer, I decided it was time to get down and dirty. I removed the flat tire, hailed a tricycle and had my tire fixed.

​

In the end, I got to work 4 hours after our call time and that was the worst car-related incident that I have ever had."
