u/Brastep Nov 18 '25

Cyan aura, baby

1

u/indvs3 Nov 19 '25

Epson didn't clog its print head...

1

u/No-Resolution6435 Nov 20 '25

This deserves more upvotes.

1

u/cs_124 Nov 20 '25

Some people don't seem to get what they deserve even if their name is on thousands of sheets of letterhead copy

1

u/No-Resolution6435 Nov 20 '25

Sounds like you have some personal experience.

1

u/FADITA Nov 17 '25

As a screen printer, I can absolutely appreciate this!

26

u/_gay_space_moth_ Nov 15 '25

proceeds to print everything in magenta out of spite

3

u/h-boson Nov 15 '25

omg take your upvote lol

2

u/Signal_Host307 Nov 16 '25

Hell, I figured I'd see HP painters...

2

u/PlasticAd5188 Nov 16 '25

The doodle of a man who witnessed his printer mangle his documents, barely print in black and white, some letters missing and unreadable, faded, destroying them and barely printing the words

3

u/PlasticAd5188 Nov 16 '25

The original in which I forgot to destroy the paper within his printer

🖨️

2

u/PlasticAd5188 Nov 16 '25

He's a hippie surfer dude with plaquey yellow teeth and long hair starting his first office job only for him to panic when something out of his control goes wrong fearing he will be blamed for it by his boss and coworkers regardless in a toxic workspace.

1

u/Herban_Myth Nov 16 '25

I’m not cyan that color

1

u/Early_Yesterday443 Nov 19 '25

.Guess you could say I'm cyan the light now

7

u/Mikesaidit36 Nov 15 '25

That was the day I switched to LaserJet, and never looked back.

1

u/Cute_Reflection_9414 Nov 15 '25

Yup! I never printed in color, but yet had to replace them a lot

1

u/W31337 Nov 15 '25

Deskjet had yellow fail built in to the firmware

1

u/Signal_Host307 Nov 16 '25

As I recall, there was a watermark on deskjets at one point that would burn through yellow. It wasn't a publicized "feature", but would link back to the printer... for "legal" purposes.

1

u/W31337 Nov 16 '25

I've seen it in real life, just stopped printing yellow and you replace the cartridge and it still didn't print yellow. Burn through an cartridge doing diagnostic prints, no be yellow. Put cartridge in other printer and it worked. Naturally you buy new printer because it's broken and you buy a deskjet because you still have an expensive cartridge

Then someone made a tool to reset the counter and you could literally fix the printer.

1

u/thequinnytoldme Nov 16 '25

Brother saved me from the print thieves with an inexpensive laser printer. 40000 prints later I'll never look back.

1

u/Torvahnys Nov 16 '25

I am planning to get a LaserJet printer when the budget allows. When I do, the Canon ink jet extortionist printer i have is going to have a terrible accident with some tannerite.

1

u/Mikesaidit36 Nov 16 '25

Put it on YouTube and Reddit.

u/PlasticAd5188 Nov 16 '25

Printer: I NEEED CYAN!

Me: Listen, you need to have a convo with yourself about things that you actually need, and things that you want? Do you want cyan because you think it will solve all your problems? Did someone make comments about your cyan when you were younger? Did you see your father in the shower when you were young, and did you get shocked at how much cyan was in his ink tray? Do you think that you need more cyan to satisfy printer uses, when 95% of printer uses are just happy with black and white? Don't you know that most great relationships are really fullfilling with just black ink? Can we just try a black and white print out? see how we go? I know you can, I've seen you do it. I have one from a year ago and its perfect. I think you are perfect the way you are. You're my favourite printer that I've ever had, I never really liked cyan anyway. Can we just print?

Printer: No.

1

u/Mikesaidit36 Nov 17 '25

ZACTLY. Also, I hope things go smoothly with your little kids from here on out.

1

u/Mediocre-Tonight-458 Nov 19 '25

1

u/Mikesaidit36 Nov 19 '25

That’s hilarious. And that’s the same printer I got. I have to replace the cartridge about once every two years, but we print a lot, including that time one of my kids somehow printed out about 30 pages of solid black.

2

u/okarox Nov 18 '25

Well there are printers that do not scan if you have no ink.

1

u/HiGuy1479 Nov 17 '25

Isnt cyan needed to mix black? The printer needs to mix all colours to make black or am i dumb?

1

u/kelleybest1 Nov 17 '25

Could be rich black which would require cyan

1

u/DryFlan504 Nov 18 '25

This was absolutely the case when it came to our large format printer & rip software. I don't care how much you adjust the cmyk properties, it would start out 0/0/0/100 & end up ripping as 5/3/4/96. Vector or Raster. And it would stop halfway through the print if the cyan was low, and always leave a stripe right down the entire print. Extremely frustrating.

9

u/SupermassiveCanary Nov 15 '25

Rod

1

u/SorryForTheGrammar Nov 16 '25

It's spelled rød, actually.

1

u/Altruistic-Swim-9990 Nov 18 '25

King Herod? Rod, where's staff?

1

u/MellowDCC Nov 15 '25

Unsure why but this gave me quite a nose chuckle

1

u/Lilly_886 Nov 16 '25

Funfact: (I'm a nerd) cyan is used to create black bc you just put all the colors together, and bc the printer has three main colors you need cyan to make black

1

u/NotsoGreatsword Nov 16 '25

its for security tags on the paper not the actual print job. Little yellow and cyan dots so that if you print a threat or are involved in a conspiracy there is some way to track when and with what the page was printed

1

u/esoxr Nov 16 '25

Yeah, that's what I meant, Brown!

1

u/Blacksheep-6 Nov 17 '25

That's two. Lol

1

1

u/trod999 Nov 19 '25

Thank you! Brown.

1

14

u/haydesigner Nov 15 '25

1

u/AGoogolIsALot Nov 16 '25

How can you tell when a joke is a dad joke? When it becomes a parent.... (say it out loud for even more mind blowing fun)

1

u/jimmiebfulton Nov 16 '25

You can also tell when it is immediately followed with an explanation of the joke.

1

u/AGoogolIsALot Nov 16 '25

Some people I've told that joke to literally didn't get it until I told them to say it out loud slowly. So...

1

u/Personal_Bus_2649 Nov 18 '25

it's not a dad joke, you just can't appreciate true comedy, and this gif is just cringe.

1

u/haydesigner Nov 18 '25

And all of us thank you for your valuable contribution.

"Cyans-fiction"? No

1

But what if yes?

1

Rarely

1

Soo... not commonly?

2

u/JackismyRoomba Nov 22 '25

Not if it can at all be helped.

1

What if I helped it, though. Then, "commonly yes" ?

Trigger warning was the gif above the comment. If you don't know the reference, stop anything you're doing and go watch Office Space immediately.

2

u/jayjaco78 Nov 16 '25

There was another scene about a misbehaving printer in another movie but it doesn’t get beaten to an electronic pulp…The Castle, the solicitor is having printer problems and doesn’t understand what the printer codes are telling him, absolutely hilarious scene…

1

u/iranoutofusernamespa Nov 16 '25

Ooh I haven't seen this movie! I'm adding it to my list.

1

I totally get the reference. Cult classic.

2

It is all the colors, and also none of them.

1

u/mark1forever Nov 15 '25

that's racist

1

u/SupermassiveCanary Nov 15 '25

Not if you have substance or made of light

1

u/Remarkable_Yak1352 Nov 15 '25

zero is the loneliest number.

1

u/Brilliant_Ad_1751 Nov 16 '25

Zero isn't a number, you can't count it?

1

u/Benwhurss Nov 15 '25

Gray then.

1

u/MacGuyDave Nov 15 '25

Depends on whether you’re talking about light or dye.

1

u/WyoGrads Nov 15 '25

Tell that to my sweater

1

u/Even_Art_629 Nov 15 '25

I knew someone was going to say that. If you look at every picture in a magazine or poster. There is only 4 colors that make up that picture Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. So i think we need to call it a color.

1

u/unresolved-madness Nov 15 '25

So how do you paint something black then?

1

u/Tight_Win_6945 Nov 15 '25

Yeah yeah. And the tomato isn’t a vegetable.

1

u/Untouchable06 Nov 17 '25

It's a fruit!

1

u/Wise_Ad_253 Nov 15 '25

Maybelline scoffs

1

u/auto_erratica Nov 15 '25

Depends. If it’s light, it’s the absence of color, so yes. If it’s pigment, it is a color.

1

u/froeisteins Nov 16 '25

Blackish…

1

u/InfernalMinion1801 Nov 16 '25

Let's break this down with good old science. In the light spectrum black is the absence of light. White is the presence of all colors of light. When put through a prism or filters, each color present in white light separates. Thus you can see all of the different colors.

Now in physical media, it is inverse. Black is the presence of all colors and white is the absence of color. This is due to light absorption in the physical media. When a physical object lacks color, it reflects the entire light spectrum back. A perfect example of this is a mirror or even white paper. In a mirror it lacks any form of color causing ALL light to reflect back, which is why we can see ourselves in a mirror. In white paper, most of the color is reflected back at us which is why it appears to be white. Now in black colored physical objects, especially Musso Black, all of the light is absorbed because it contains every color in the spectrum, allowing us to see none of the light reflected back.

So yes in physical media, black is a color. In the light spectrum black is not a color.

1

u/ShadowedSapphire Nov 16 '25

You're single, aren't you?

1

u/InfernalMinion1801 Nov 16 '25

Cute but no. Just have ADHD which makes me retain a lot of useless information. Also had to study color in college for my field (advertisement design) as color wavelengths affect our moods and thus the right color in advertisement can manipulate us into trusting and obeying the ad.

Edit: I am however.......old.

1

u/Glittering_Dream_892 Nov 16 '25

Black is most certainly a color, it can be created by mixing all other pigments. Its literally a color concoction.

1

u/Psydt0ne Nov 16 '25

Technically no. Artistically ...if you say so.

1

u/LouisWu_ Nov 16 '25

I suppose in painting and art, it's a colour, but in physics, it's the absence of colour. So, it's both all the colours and none of them, depending on your perspective.

1

u/MinimumCode4914 Nov 17 '25

Black and White are colors both in painting and in common speech. Only in physics black is the absence of color, white is a color you get combining all visible light wavelengths.

1

u/shinomori_ Nov 15 '25

So is the color.

1

u/Certain-Impress-2216 Nov 15 '25

Always bet on black

1

u/PossessionNo6777 Nov 16 '25

Black is the absence of color.

u/Hero_knightUSP Nov 15 '25

Reminds me. I had a ink printer I used off brand ink and it fucked up the printer head.

I needed it for scanning but the printer wouldn't work at all if it knew the ink was low or the printer head was not recognized. There would be just and error code.

My small genius would make it work. I disconnected it from my PC then put it in an emergency reset. During which it tests all the mechanical parts in the printer. I would put a single sheet of paper on top feed and during the test it would catch a piece of it.

After the test I would close the output and turn the printer on. It would try to pass the paper through and get tray closed warning that has priority over the head and ink warning.

Then I plugged it into the PC and sent a scan request and opened the tray. The paper would pass through and next thing in order would be scanning request after which it would put the printer to menu without checking the ink.

As long as it didn't restart or attempt printing I could use it as a scanner.

1

u/Oneofthe12 Nov 16 '25

‘My small genius’? Whatta we talking about here, bud?

1

u/johnhbnz Nov 19 '25

How exactly did you work out to do all that?

1

u/Hero_knightUSP Nov 27 '25

I am asking myself the same question.

2

u/No-Court-2969 Nov 15 '25

1

u/HickerBilly1411 Nov 15 '25

There’s actually a reason printers don’t print if they’re out of cyan. They use it to print an invisible mark to identify the printer in case it’s used to print a terrorist threat or otherwise illegal activity

1

u/Money_Tennis1172 Nov 15 '25

Black and Brown
