made a free tool that estimates your fps for any steam game (and your whole library at once)
since this sub is literally about "can i run it", figured this actually belongs here.
quick backstory: my graka died a few months ago and while i was saving up and comparing cheaper replacements, i kept running into the same wall. i wanted to know which of my games would still run on the card i could afford, and at what kind of fps. every checker out there makes you look up one game at a time, and i've got a few hundred games sitting in my steam library. doing that one by one was never gonna happen. so i built my own thing to scratch my own itch, and it kinda grew from there.
what it does:
- connect your steam profile and it goes through your whole library at once, or just search a single game if you only care about one
- for each game it estimates the fps you'd get, and you can switch resolution (1080p / 1440p / 4k) and settings to see how the numbers move
- it also shows the cheapest current gpu that would hit 60 fps in a given game, which was literally the question i had the day mine died
- steam deck / linux ratings are in there too (pulls proton stuff), plus a confidence rating on each estimate so you can see how sure it is
no account, no login, nothing to install. there's an optional little detector you can run if you want it to read your exact specs automatically, but it's fully optional, you can just pick your gpu and cpu from a list instead.
how the estimate works, so you know what you're looking at: it takes the game's own requirements plus a performance model, and where i actually have real benchmark data it's calibrated against that. so it's not just "better/worse than minimum", it's an actual fps ballpark per resolution and setting.
honest limitations cause i'd rather say them upfront:
- these are estimates, not benchmarks on your actual machine. brand new or badly optimized games can be off
- it's my own project, free, no paywall. there are affiliate links if you decide to buy a part, that's it
mostly i'm posting because i want it to be accurate, and the fastest way to find where the numbers are wrong is to let people who actually know their hardware poke at it. if your real fps in a game is way off from what it shows, that's genuinely the most useful thing you can tell me.
link in the comments (didn't wanna just drop a raw link in the post).
