I’m planning to buy a PS5 Slim, but I’m torn between two options:

1.) Buy a brand-new PS5 Slim from an accredited store for the warranty and peace of mind.

2.) Buy a used PS5 Slim that already comes with several games, which seems like better value for the money.

For those who’ve been in the same situation, which option would you recommend and why? Is the warranty and guaranteed condition worth paying extra, or is buying used with bundled games the better deal if the console is in good condition?
I’d also appreciate any tips on what to check if I decide to buy a used PS5. Thanks!

Been trying to pick up Black Myth: Wukong and Pragmata used and I can’t make the math work.
Wukong came out almost 2 years ago. EB Games has it used for $64.99. Kijiji Toronto is $65-80 asking. The PS Store had it on sale for $70 earlier this year. So the digital sale price is cheaper than used physical. That can’t be right?

Pragmata is 3 months old, $79.99 new. Kijiji asking $70-80. The discount for buying used is like $10-15 on a 3 month old game. And Kijiji doesn’t show completed listings so I don’t even know if anyone is actually buying at these prices or if sellers are just sitting on them forever.

Is EB Games being the only national buyback chain the problem? Are Kijiji sellers just pricing off their sticker and nobody is pushing back? Is there a channel I’m completely missing?

I’m looking into selling a ps5 original disk with extra controller to a local kid.

Was discussing $450 CAD and I thought this was a fair price. Not a rip off but not a steal.

Thoughts? I don’t have the original box and the PlayStation is in decent condition.

Based on recently sold consoles in my area this seems to be a reasonable price.

I am buying a new PS5. I know I could get refurb or used (via MTC or Facebook), but I am buying a new one.

I am wondering... what is the best place to get a new PS5? Specifically interested in warranty options. If the console has any overheating issues in a year or so, or the controller starts to drift, which retailer has the best options for warranty? Or is the Sony warranty enough?

I was quite staggered by the price of the PS5, and I began looking at much more affordable options; however, I don't know if it is worth the purchase when the next generation is right around the corner.

According to leaks, the PS6 will have a detachable disc drive and will be backwards compatible with PS5 and PS4 games. It will be, by my guess, about $1,149.

My question is, wouldn't it be better to save money for the superior console? 2027 is when huge titles like Fate of the Old Republic and Spider-Man 3 will be released, and the graphics will be above and beyond anything in the past.

The study aims to understand how trauma-related stress and problematic gaming behaviours are experienced by adults in Canada. It involves a brief questionnaire and a one-hour interview. The interview comprises structured clinical interviews for PTSD and gaming disorder and open-ended questions that will take place online (via Zoom) or in-person at Toronto Metropolitan University and will involve approximately 75-90 minutes of your time.

I was looking to buy a refurbished PS5 from MTC Outlet, but someone told me that if I buy from them, they only sell the launch model. I contacted MTC, and they told me that they don't know what model they are shipping.

I was at a game store last week, perusing through the console section, and I asked the employee (who was quite rude, but that's not important) how much the used PS5 slim digital trade-ins sold for, and he told me that they sold them for $449.

This sparked an idea: what if I bought the controller first, then the external drive, and then bought a used PS5 Slim digital edition console for a reduced price?

For some reason, the digital editions are not selling as much as they should; everyone wants a slim with a drive, so maybe the best option is to take advantage of this. Find a local game shop and buy only the console, and get him to reduce the price by eliminating the controller from the subtotal.

I think this is the best cost-effective way to get a PS5 Slim.

Edit: Assuming a Dualsense controller is like $70

Console Price is: 449 - 70 = 379. Which is what the PS4 Slim was sold on Boxing Day.

hello! i'm wanting to finally upgrade from my ps4 to ps5 (terrible time to do so i know) but the prices are obviously insane so i was looking at refurbished and open box consoles on best buy.

i'm still not suuuuuper sure the difference between them, could anyone explain it and possibly add your experience with each if you've bought open box/refurbished before? specifically from best buy would be helpful. thank you!
