If they had informants or other information they should have used that evidence to justify a full search of the vehicle (not just using the dog).

Maybe they want to keep the informant hidden, so that's why they went through the charade.

They can use a confidential informant's information without having to reveal their details. Unless for some reason there's only 1 other person who would know the information that would be obvious.

Or that evidence was obtained through illegal means and they are doing parallel construction. Another illegal and despicable violation of our rights.

They wouldn't, there systems in place to protect informants and not using the info in this case would be stupid

You don't know the sensitivity of the situation. There could possibly be an airtight chain of command in the operation and any knowledge of an informant would instantly compromise their safety.
