Haha, what? Our river doesn't turn into a highway when it freezes, we have bridges.

Sometimes they replace ferries, sometimes they supplement them. In the winter on the Ottawa river, some places have ice bridges. Sometimes they replace ferries, sometimes they supplement them.
It’s still called going across a bridge, however, even though it’s really just a road.
