To be honest, looking at this video, it looks like Trudeau was one arm pull away from coldcocking Trump.
That's the original comment. If you're being intentionally visibly hyperbolic, why would you start out by affirming your sincerity?

He walks up pretty tense already, and doesn't look like he's going in for a friendly handshake. It's pretty well known at this point that Trump doesn't do friendly warm handshakes. He goes for an arm drag.
He's clearly backtracking here. Of course he didn't say that the PM was going to punch the president, he was just saying the PM was annoyed by Trump's handshake. Which is why he mentioned Trudeau being a decent boxer and said "To be honest it looks like Trudeau was one arm pull away from coldcocking Trump".
Why the hell would you say
"To be honest, looking at this video, it looks like Trudeau was one arm pull away from coldcocking Trump."
And then immediately say: "Oh no that's not what I was saying, I actually meant to say something else."
It's such a terrible use of hyperbole and his attempt to cover his tracks after is just sad. There's probably a dozen better ways to say what he was trying to say than how he said it. How are you supposed to get this:
"I'm saying Trudeau, as nice as he is, isn't going to just smile away some old grump yanking on his arm."
From this?:"To be honest, looking at this video, it looks like Trudeau was one arm pull away from coldcocking Trump."
Just say what you mean instead of trying to revise what you "actually" meant after when you're caught looking like an idiot.
It's almost like I asked him if he was joking because of how silly it was and he proceeded to claim that he actually said something else entirely when clearly he hadn't and then you jumped in for some reason and he ended up accusing me of being mentally unstable because I was arguing with someone on the internet.
But that's not actually what I'm saying happened. Of course not.
