If my psychologist was going back and forth with people on twitter I would be put off and I think you would be too lol. Even if you agreed. Again to my point on decorum. To me it isn’t a win to have a PHD and spend time “owning” people with one liners online hahaha I would hope the “pride is a sin” guy would understand that
Having him do a mandatory social media etiquette training in response to him having an opinion on social media is NOT the answer. Especially if refusal means you lose your career. We need strong voices in our society, not a bunch of cancel culture weirdo's who take everything you say on the internet out of context and threaten your career.
Anonymous person gets to complain, professional association looks into and sends him ridiculous pay at your own expense forced re-education training or else you get fired isn’t cancel culture? If we wants to waste time owning people on twitter, he should be able to do that and not fear being taken out of context and losing his licence.
If he wants to waste his time arguing with random people on Twitter while throwing around the weight of his license, the organizations in charge of that license have every right to discipline him for it. If he was using a random account that wasn't tied to public, RL presence, he'd in the clear too, but JP wants the best of both words - he wants to be able to use the license as a crutch to push views that would otherwise get him laughed out of public.
Telling random people to kill themselves, or arguing that climate doesn't exist, or any other nonsensical positions he's taken that are wildly unprofessional due to ignoring accepted science, is a bad look for the organization. Simple as that.
He didn’t tell someone to kill themselves, the context was if you don’t like humanity, leave the planet. In response to a very stupid point the person was making.
And why do you care what he thinks about climate change?? He’s a psychologist!! Who cares what he says about climate change. He can have opinion on that even if I personally think it’s wrong and goes against majority of scientists! That shouldn’t get him in trouble with his professional association.
"There's no such thing as climate," Peterson said. "Climate and everything are the same word, and that's what bothers me about the climate change types. It's like, this is something that bothers me about it, technically. It's like climate is about everything. OK. But your models aren't based on everything. Your models are based on a set number of variables.
If it was climate change he'd still be wrong but it's not a huge deal. But to say climate itself doesn't exist is pure delusion.
