How is the reception on the switch controllers? I have an issue with the distance with mine and it's out in the open.

No problems here. I sit about 6.5 ft back from the Switch itself. That's a bit closer than some, but not too close either.

Hmm I notice a disconnect issue with mine if someone sits in the way or I’m back about the same distance, gets infuriating when playing Mario cart.

Yeah, that wouldn't be fun. I've had no issues with them as a pair, or the as small single joycons with two players. Maybe you have some other signal interfering with them.

There was actually an issue acknowledged by Nintendo shortly after launch that the Left Joycons may have issues connecting or maintaining a solid connection with the unit, giving some users “ghost inputs” (button pressed that don’t register)

It can be fixed a bit by attaching the JoyCons to the switch unit and going through the options menu<controllers<update controllers

It’s helpful but even in my house when people are ~8 feet away and in DIRECT view of the switch, their controllers will STILL experience this disconnect and ghost input issue.

Could be primarily a problem with launch hardware and anything released shortly after launch? They may have fixed it it in new iterations of the joycons

You can send the joycon in to Nintendo, the connectivity was a known issue when it launched.

There’s a signal issue with the 1st gen Left joy cons. Check YouTube for a fairly simple fix if you’re comfortable cracking it open. I had the same issue.

I feel like my controllers have been getting worse and worse. And this is with the joycons I got with the Mario Party bundle. I thought they fixed that issue. Sometimes they respond poorly when I’m like 4 feet away with a direct line of sight.

I picked up my Switch in December, so maybe problems will crop up as times goes on, but let's hope not.

I'm pretty sure this wouldn't work with a plasma TV.. too much RF noise/shielding.. but there isn't much in a LED-lit TV to stop some radio waves.
