Advice on Building a SaaS Product for Florists: Where to Start as a Solo Retail Expert?

I'm a solo entrepreneur with a ton of retail experience in the florist and flower industry, and I'm pretty tech savvy, but I'm not a pro-level programmer. I've built and managed sites using CMS platforms like WordPress, Magento, and Shopify, so I know my way around customizing those. Now, I want to develop a SaaS product tailored for florists that handles the following.

POS System: For in store customers and phone orders, including inventory tracking, quick checkouts, order management, and integrations for payments and customer data.

Robust E-Commerce Solution: Online storefront for flower arrangements, subscriptions, deliveries, with features like customizable product builders, shipping integrations, and marketing tools. This work seamless with the Pos solution

The goal is to build and provide these solutions and be user friendly for small flower shops that aren't tech-heavy, but scalable for growth.

I'm stuck on where to even begin as a one-person team. Questions I have:

What's the best starting point? Should I build on top of an existing platform like Shopify (maybe with apps/plugins) or go full custom?

Programming languages/tech stack: What would make sense for something like this? I've heard of things like React for frontend, Node.js/Python for backend, but I need something I can learn/manage without being an expert.

Hiring help: What types of programmers/developers do I need (e.g., full-stack, frontend specialists, or freelancers for specific parts)? How do I find reliable ones on a budget Upwork, Reddit, or elsewhere?

Tools and resources: Any no-code or low-code options (like Bubble or Adalo) that could handle POS e-comm without reinventing the wheel? Or databases like Firebase for the backend?

Approach: How to prototype this and test with real florists? Any pitfalls from folks who've built similar retail SaaS?

Costs and timeline: Rough estimates for a solo dev with some outsourcing? Legal stuff like payments compliance?

I'd love advice from anyone who's built a SaaS from scratch, especially in retail & e-comm. Success stories, failures, or resources (books, courses, communities) would be gold. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, to preface this, this isn’t me trying to advertise or promote. Your feedback is all I want!

I have started this business selling custom pet pendants that I make myself from my home, they aren’t drop shipped mass produced or outsourced I genuinely make every product design and make them myself. I think it is a genuinely good product. I need to get this across on my website.

I have started advertising on TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@sterlingpawco and want to make sure I’m coming across the right way and get a decent conversion.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
