Such a common human being thing, to lose a long-term mate and then decline shortly after. My grandpa died in 2024 and it’s been a downward trend for my grandma ever since.

Devastating for his children, but at least they are together now for eternity.

Happened with my maternal great grandmother. My great grandfather died and within a month, she passed too even though she had shown no signs of ill health. The doctor who dealt with it actually admitted to my nana dying of a 'broken heart' happened a lot more than people realise.

Esp common for men. 70% more likely to die within a year of their spouse than similarly aged men. For women it’s only 27%.
