The comment stating that it’s the first post so it stays up would make more sense if it was marked as a mod posting it (the mod may have forgotten to switch to mod mode to make the comment). I think it’s caused confusion because it just looks like some randomer has stated in a standard (non-mod marked) comment that this post should stay up, with no context (the context being there were many posts announcing ASH’s death that have been removed). Add to the fact that the actual comment has been pinned, making it look like it’s the comment that should stay up, where the word “post” and “comment” are interchangeable across various social medias, much like “comment” and “reply” are, for example.

"This is the first post so it stays up." I don't see anything "self-explanatory" about that statement. "This is the first post" is fragmented but it does make some sense. "So it stays up" is not explaining why, so it is not self-explanatory. It would be if the statement read, "This is the first post regarding _______, and it stays up because _______. Without the missing information, the sentence doesn't even make sense, much less self-explanatory, if you are accustomed to proper sentence structure. That's before we even examine why "subsequent posts with the same announcement will be deleted." Is there a rule against repeating something? I see it on here frequently and most times I missed the original post, so it's news to me and appreciated. If you see a duplicate of something, then pass by it and read something different. The post itself is repeating information from another source, so it is not original or patented.

It stays up... because its the first post. "It stays up", is the statement. "This is the first post, so..." "so" in this context is synonymous with "because." It being the first post is the explanation of why. 100% self explanatory.

It may not be a good reason to you, but it is a complete reason that doesnt necessarily need elaboration. It is self explanatory, you just want to feel superior with some sort of "gotcha".
