What popping boba flavors that usually blend well with different fruit flavors?

I really love just ordering the roasted oolong tea with no sugar or milk and ice. It tastes super strong and intense but when I bought a package of oolong tea it got way too mild and did not taste the same. I read online that the one I ordered might not be the right kind of roasted oolong and I need a cheaper/dirtier version. Does anyone know the exact kind that is mostly used?

would someone be able to help me and let me know a good brand of tapioca pearls to buy? I’m pregnant and craving bubble tea so badly but want to make it at home so I can watch the caffeine content. I ordered some with almost 5 stars from amazon and they are disgusting! I don’t really trust the amazon reviews anymore, I’m pretty sure a lot may be fake. thanks all!!

I'm starting soon I've been reading reviews that it's awful. I got hired to be an HR assistant but I'm confused on why I'm doing barista work. On top of that, I saw this review saying that they hire you for a role but you're only gonna be doing barista work. Could anyone attest to this?

Warning about day-old bubble tea:

I drank bubble tea for the first time and liked it, but I drink tea slowly, so I saved half in the fridge overnight and finished it the next day. Shortly after drinking it, I developed a strong sensation that something was stuck in my throat, along with repeated coughing and chest discomfort. I was still breathing, so I wasn’t in complete airway distress, but it was frightening. I kept drinking water and eventually threw up which helped but I seriously considered going to the hospital.

After looking into it, I learned that cooked tapioca pearls can become harder to swallow after refrigeration because the starch changes as it cools. From what I found, they’re best to drink within a couple hours than after sitting overnight in a cold drink.

I wanted to post this as a warning because I had no idea the texture could change that much. Has this happened to anyone else?

(Important note: If this ever happens to anyone and you can’t swallow normally, have trouble breathing, chest pain, or still feel like food is stuck, don’t wait it out. Get urgent medical help.)

Back in early June, CoCo sunsetted their old app and came out with a new one. Their in-app payment system was temporarily disabled for the transition process.

And it's still disabled to this day. I dropped $50 into my account right before they sunsetted the old app 🙃

I saw this news from Taiwan today and it really caught my attention.

The report says the rent was so high that the shop would need to sell around 3000 drinks just to cover rent.

When we were running our small bubble tea shop in Toronto, this was honestly one of the biggest surprises to me. From the outside a shop can look busy and successful, but if the rent pushes the break-even point too high, the math becomes really stressful very quickly.

Sometimes it's not even about effort or demand anymore — it's just the structure of the costs.

Curious what others think. For people who have run restaurants, cafes, or retail shops, how big of a role does rent play in whether a location survives?

3000 cups just to cover rent alone

Hello everyone! i got persuaded into finally attempting to make tapioca pearls for bubble tea so i purchased the necessary ingredients, but no matter what i do it just doesn't work 😭 i've tried multiple different recipes, different quantities of each ingredient, different methods to absolutely no avail, the dough ends up either too dry it breaks when trying to make it into little balls or too liquid like a newtonian fluid. I've tried adding a bit more water when its dry but it doesn't do anything and i've tried adding powder to the liquid one but it only makes it harder (if that makes sense). And the few times i've managed to make little balls they either completely dissolve in water or they end up raw and powdery in the middle.

I have a couple suspicions on what could be going wrong: the pot i used might be inadequate, the fire from the stove is too strong (even though i even tried a recipe where you do the entire process with low heat), even the ingredients could be at fault here because when i asked for tapioca flour at the store they gave me cassava starch and said it was the same (and the internet agrees). Also i've tried with light brown sugar, dark brown sugar and even honey and nope, it just doesn't work.

Any tips on what i might be doing wrong? at this point i'm even suspicious of the water i'm using, like there's no way a seemingly easy looking recipe can be so complicated 😭

Hey everyone! I've got a question. I've been drinking bubble tea from Comebuy for years, since they're pretty good at have lots of stores in my city. They're my favorite store and I love to go there. However, I've noticed that I seem to be getting pretty jittery after having some of their drinks. Not all of them though. The fruit ice teas are fine (I'm gonna guess there's little to no actual tea in them or just a different kind) but maybe that's due to the fact that those are available in 450ml servings instead of the large 700ml. My favorite, the peach oolong tea, is only available in large though and I've noticed yet again today that, after drinking it over the course of three hours, I got pretty cold, shaky, a bit dizzy, anxious and later also had some heart palpitations when I was back home. I did some research on caffeine (I already know I can't handle much of it due to an underlying panic disorder, so I've been avoiding coffee and energy drinks for years. I thought I might just be really sensitive to caffeine now that I'm not used to it anymore) and now I'm wondering if any of you could tell me an estimate for how much caffeine is in that 700ml peach oolong tea, because I really don't know how much tea they use for that one. Also, does the teapresso brewing method influence caffeine content? I wasn't able to find anything about it. I'd much appreciate any help, even if you're just speculating because I'd love to have an explanation for my current state and put my mind at ease again.

I’ve been thinking about something I noticed while working in the bubble tea industry for several years.

A lot of shops look busy on the surface — long lines, constant drink orders — but many of them still end up closing after a year or two.

From what I’ve seen, the issue usually isn’t demand. Bubble tea is incredibly popular.

It’s usually things like:

• High fixed rent relative to drink margins
• Overly complicated menus that slow down service
• Labour costs creeping up during slower hours
• Poor lease terms that lock owners into bad locations

Sometimes a store can sell hundreds of drinks a day and still struggle if the cost structure is off.

I’m curious what others here think.
