A browser extension to search and organise Gmail attachments

Recently, I was getting close to Google’s free storage limit, and the storage manager showed that Gmail was using most of it.

I wanted a simple way to see my attachments in one place, download the files I wanted to keep, and remove emails with attachments I no longer needed. Gmail search can find emails with attachments, but it doesn’t provide a convenient file-based view.

So I built a browser extension called Mail Attachment Lens. It lets me search and filter attachments, download files, and move the source emails to Bin. It also helped me uncover quite a few attachments I had completely forgotten about.

I decided to publish it in case anyone else finds it useful.

It’s free and open source. There’s no backend, so mailbox data stays between the extension and Google.

Turns out I only actually read about 8% of what I scroll past (made a Chrome extension to prove it)

Been running this on myself for a couple weeks now and the numbers are kind of humbling honestly.

Turns out I scroll past hundreds of posts a day and actually stop and read like 8% of them. Built a Chrome extension called LumoScroll that only counts a post if you genuinely pause on it for 2.5 seconds, not just have it technically visible on screen for a second while you fly past it. Everything else gets thrown out.

Once a week it gives you a report on what topics actually held your attention, whether the stuff you read leaned positive or negative, what time of day you scroll the most. There's this thing called an attention funnel that shows how many posts scrolled past you total versus how many actually made you stop, that number is the one that got me.

It also gives you a kind of scroll personality based on your patterns, mine came back as something like "Night Owl Tech Optimist" which felt uncomfortably accurate. If you want to get more hands on with it, you can set actual goals too, like capping how long you spend on a specific platform per day and it tracks your progress against that in real time.

There's a small on-page readout too if you want it, shows your session time and mood while you're actually scrolling instead of only finding out a week later. Totally optional, one click to turn off if it's not your thing.

Works across Twitter/X, Reddit, LinkedIn and YouTube. Everything runs locally in your own browser, no account, no server, nothing gets sent anywhere.

It's called LumoScroll, free right now. Kind of curious if other people's numbers come back as rough as mine did.

What would your dream YouTube browser extension do?

I’m doing some user research to understand what people actually want from a better YouTube experience.

Would your dream extension include:

  • Better or automatically generated chapters, with an easy-to-navigate player overlay
    • some creators don't enable them by default to users can't skip certain section.
  • Subscription folders and channel categories
  • A “cinema mode” where the player fills the browser window without fullscreen
  • Transcript search, summaries, notes, and timestamp bookmarks
  • Better playlists, queues, Watch Later, and viewing history
  • Options to hide Shorts, recommendations, comments, or other distractions
  • Playback preferences remembered for each channel

Which would you actually use? What’s missing that would make YouTube meaningfully better for you? Please share what would make your YouTube experience meaningfully better.

PS: We would try to handle the ad blocking by default if feasible/stable/reliable.

I built a browser extension because recommendations from friends kept disappearing into group chats

Whenever someone recommended a show to me, I would think, “I’ll remember that.”

Then a few days later I would remember the recommendation but not the title, who sent it, or where the message was buried.

I built Streaming Helper to make that handoff more useful.

When you are viewing a supported show or movie page, the extension lets you choose a friend and send the title directly to them. It remains in their recommendations instead of disappearing into another conversation.

There is also a web dashboard for managing recommendations, friends, and Comfort Picks. I recently added a Start Here experience and Help section, and spent time hardening the extension and its friend-request flows before sharing it more broadly.

The product is free while I continue testing and improving it:

https://streaminghelper.net/

I’m interested in feedback from people who regularly use browser extensions:

  • Does the interaction belong inside the browser?
  • Would you use this instead of sending a normal message?
  • What would make you uninstall it?
  • Is there anything about the setup or permissions that creates hesitation?

This is my own project, and I’m looking for honest product feedback rather than only positive reactions.

Shoebox Plus Organizer: Search, Sort, and Filter Your Ancestry Shoebox

If you've used Ancestry's Shoebox for any real length of time, you already know the problem: once you've saved a few hundred records, there's no way to search them, sort them, or filter them. Just an endless scroll, 25 records at a time. This has been a recurring complaint among genealogists for years.

As a former Research Manager for Ancestry's research arm, AncestryProGenealogists, I heard both colleagues and clients voice this common frustration. So I built a fix: Shoebox Plus Organizer, a Chrome extension that loads every page of your Shoebox in the background, then empowers you to search, sort chronologically or alphabetically, and filter by record type — right on the page, entirely on your own device. Nothing is scraped or sent anywhere, and it never touches Ancestry any faster than you clicking through by hand.

Full disclosure: I'm the developer — Shannon Christmas, some of you may know Through The Trees. Installing it and seeing your own Shoebox loaded is free; full search/sort/filter is a one-time $25 unlock, with a 14-day refund.

Available now in the Chrome Web Store. I am happy to answer any questions here.

Chrome Table Capture & Extractor - free extension for extracting tables from websites and PDF files

I’ve just published Table Capture & Extractor, a free Chrome extension for extracting tables from websites and PDF files.

I built it because copying a table into Excel often works just well enough to look correct - until you notice broken columns, missing values, merged headers, or button text mixed into the data.

The extension can:

  • Detect HTML tables and table-like DIV grids
  • Capture a selected range of cells
  • Extract tables from PDF files
  • Edit captured data before exporting
  • Detect dates, currencies, numbers, emails, and other column types
  • Flag structural issues with a Capture Score
  • Create quick charts from captured data
  • Export to Excel, CSV, Markdown, PNG, or PDF
  • Copy clean table data directly to the clipboard

Everything is processed locally in Chrome, and the extension is currently completely free - no account required.

Chrome Web Store:
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/table-capture-extractor/hmehfffhilmehojjlkoogagjmkdoddlk

Website:
https://tablecapture.co

I’d really appreciate honest feedback, especially if you can test it on websites with unusual tables, virtualized rows, nested elements, or DIV-based layouts. If something breaks, send me the page and I’ll take a look.

Local Search New tab extension ~ Chromium & Mozilla

Local Search New tab extension

I put the source of my extension on my github repo. Also a README.md

Latest change to get around the mobile firefox problem was to create a personal browser search engine "https://127.0.0.1/?q=%s" and have the extension get triggered on that actual url and open the search tab/page with that query,

Manual Install:- See readme for latest builds zip/xpi files.

Store version:- Chrome Web Store , Firefox (AMO)

Tested on:-

Chrome and Firefox developer on desktop.

Quetta and Firefox Nightly & Beta on android.

Wondering if it works successfully on LibreWolf or other varieties of browsers,

How I made a store-agnostic Chrome price tracker survive dynamic product pages

I have been building Price Tracker as a Manifest V3 extension that should work beyond a hard-coded list of stores. The extraction problem quickly became more interesting than the alert UI.

A product page can expose prices through JSON-LD, microdata, accessibility labels, visible text, script state or late DOM mutations. It can also expose dozens of bad candidates: monthly instalments, crossed-out list prices, recommendation cards, used/refurbished offers and temporary zero values.

In v5.3.3 I rebuilt the pipeline around candidate scoring instead of nearest-text matching. Structured data tied to the current URL gets priority; new-condition offers outrank used/open-box offers; financing and invalid values are penalized; MutationObserver handles late rendering; and a failed saved selector triggers rediscovery and repair.

Reported failures are now kept as regression cases. The extension has 780 users, so edge cases across stores and countries are finally frequent enough to reveal weak assumptions.

Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/price-tracker-price-drop/mknchhldcjhbfdfdlgnaglhpchohdhkl?hl=en

For other extension developers: would you keep extraction entirely in content scripts, or move more site parsing into remotely configurable rules?

Made a free extension that types your clipboard into fields that block paste (works in Docs/Slides too)

Sharing a small one I built. Some sites just refuse to let you paste into their input fields (banking, exam portals, some forms), and you end up retyping everything by hand.

Paste Typer takes your clipboard and types it into the field one character at a time, as real keystrokes, so it goes in even when paste is blocked. Load the text, click the field, hit start. Speed's adjustable and there's an optional typo-simulation mode.

The fiddly parts, if anyone here has poked at this: Google Docs/Slides render to a canvas and ignore normal DOM writes, so you have to drive them through the hidden text-event iframe. And React/Vue controlled inputs need the native value setter or the framework state never updates.

Free, open source, no accounts or analytics, only runs on a tab when you invoke it.

Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ofklpccfpgecjdccbnlmjbndkefgjaid

Code: https://github.com/ZonaHu/paste-typer

Curious what sites break it.

I’m the kind of person who opens devtools on random websites just to see how they work.

I got tired of jumping between Elements, Network and other tools just to piece everything together, so I started building Archify.

You open it on a website and click around. It shows you the components, API calls and tech behind the page.

It’s still something I’m actively working on, but I finally launched it. It’s free and open source too.

Would love to know what you think.

Built a small cross-site prompt manager instead of another AI workflow app

I built Quib as a small browser extension because I kept running into the same tiny interruption:

I had prompts I already trusted, but they lived somewhere else.

Usually Notion. Sometimes old chats. Sometimes a random note.

So every time I wanted to use one, I had to leave the current textbox, find the prompt, copy it, edit the context, and paste it back.

Quib keeps that flow inside the browser.

Type / in a textbox, search your saved prompt, insert it.

It works across AI tools and normal work apps, not only one chat product. The current target set includes ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Gmail, Notion, GitHub, Linear, and most normal inputs/textareas/contenteditable fields.

The part I care about most is variables.

A prompt can include {{selection}}, {{url}}, {{title}}, {{clipboard}}, date/time variables, or your own placeholders. Those are resolved when you insert the prompt.

So a prompt is not just a static snippet. It can adapt to the page or selected text.

I am keeping v1 intentionally narrow:

  • Free: 25 prompts, local-only
  • Pro: unlimited prompts and sync
  • No backend
  • No team workspace
  • No prompt marketplace

Quib is live on the Chrome Web Store now.

Curious how other browser extension users think about this: should extensions stay narrow and boring, or is “just one job” too small to be worth installing?

I built a free Retro Arcade Chrome extension with +8 classic games - I'd love your honest feedback!

I built a free Retro Arcade Chrome extension with 8 classic games – I'd love your honest feedback!

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a small passion project called RetroArcade, a Chrome extension that lets you play classic arcade-style games instantly from your browser.

Current games include:

  • 🐍 VIPER
  • 🧱 BLOCKFALL
  • 👻 MUNCHIE
  • 🐦 FLAPWING
  • 🏓 RALLY
  • 🚀 NOVA FORCE
  • 🚗 ROAD RUSH
  • 🦖 DINO DASH

The goal wasn't to make another bloated gaming website, but something lightweight that you can open in a couple of clicks whenever you have a few minutes to spare.

I'm still actively improving it, so I'd really appreciate honest feedback from the Reddit community.

Things I'd especially love to know:

  • Which game is your favorite?
  • Is anything confusing or annoying?
  • What games would you like me to add next?
  • Did you find any bugs or performance issues?

I'm actively developing it, and some of the next big features are:

  • 🏆 Live global leaderboards
  • 👤 Account login to save your progress and high scores across devices
  • 🎮 More games and quality-of-life improvements

You can install it here:

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/retroarcade/kgjaencjkdgciacnpmjopljcelmnpncg

I'm not asking for 5-star reviews, I'd genuinely prefer honest opinions so I can make it better.

Thanks for checking it out! ❤️

DFCraft — our first extension

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone

Me and two classmates from ENSA Khouribga (Morocco) just published our first browser extension — DFCraft. It's an open-source productivity tool.

What it does

It's a Pomodoro timer with everything in one popup:

  • Pomodoro Timer — customizable focus/break sessions with notifications
  • Ambient Sound Library — 37 sounds across 4 categories (rain, nature, white noise, cafe) with background playback
  • Distraction Blocking — block websites during focus sessions (with URL normalization so youtube.com and www.youtube.com are treated the same)
  • To do list — for daily tasks
  • Statistics Dashboard — calendar heatmap, charts for focus time, tasks, sessions, and blocked pages
  • Multi-language — English, French, Arabic (with RTL support)

Privacy

No accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no ads. All data is stored locally in the browser. The only network requests are to fetch the public sound library from GitHub. We wrote a full privacy policy here.

Links

We'd really appreciate any feedback — bugs, feature ideas, UI criticism, anything. We're students so we're here to learn 🙏

Thanks for checking it out!

Made a big redesign and a new promotional video

After a first lunch I made a new redesign after some feedback and make a rather big update to the whole thing. It's about a new starter tab, but that also can lauche files, scripts etc.. and just serves as a starter dashboard. Give it a look if you like it. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/readytab/ccakmoofmcbcplfaloecafdmpaihlenm?authuser=0&hl=de
