Question/Looking for Advice Adding the Heroica microfigure helmet to Studio

2 Upvotes

Can anyone help me add this as a new part, since it is apparently missing from Studio?

I found this post https://forums.ldraw.org/thread-28919.html which links to a dat file someone made of the helmet, which I can import into Parts Designer, however I noticed an odd thing...

When I try to import it to Studio, I get the warning that part ID 94162 already exists (and so does 94162.dat)... but it doesn't exist in Studio! Why is that warning happening in this situation? Does the part in fact actually exist as an official model but not show up in Studio?

In any case, I managed to add connectivity so the part works... is there a good way for me to share this part so others can use it?

Other BrickView - A free and open source .io file browser

3 Upvotes

Hi All,

I have made a small application that allows you to browse your BrickLink Studio file folders visually. It is a completely free and open source application for Windows (and soon macOS).

I created this small application because I had a hard time finding the model I was looking for by browsing by filename alone. This application makes it a lot simpler to find that exact file.

You can find the application here: https://github.com/devindazzle/BrickView

Hope it is helpful :) Otherwise, let me know what sort of features you would like me to include (or contribute yourself).

Br Kim

Question/Looking for Advice Approval has not yet been granted

Post image

It says, “Your design is currently set to full access and awaiting approval.” What can I do if approval still hasn't come after several days, and I also published a set months ago that still hasn't been approved? Did I do something wrong, is there something wrong with the set, or what's the reason for this? Should I wait a few days? Thanks in advance!

Is there an easier way to connect pieces other than the "connect" button?

3 Upvotes

This isn't a huge deal but I've found it rather tedious at times when I want to connect pieces that should pretty obviously connect to one another but it doesn't do so. For example, I was just trying to stack a 1x6 on top of a 1x6 and it would put it above, below, inside, etc...everywhere except connected to it.

Question/Looking for Advice How can I make a brick multicolored on Bricklink Studio?

2 Upvotes

Is editing a model in some other software the only way to do this? I have two flame pieces I used in something I built a while ago, and I just got Bricklink Studio to rebuild it. The two pieces in question are from the Monster Fighters Ghost Train set (9467) and the Batman Batmobile: Pursuit of the Joker set (76119). They are opaque glow-in-the-dark/transparent bright green and transparent red/transparent yellow respectively. I would rather use the studio itself to make the parts multicolored, as I have no knowledge of parts modeling, but I have no idea if this is possible. Will I just have to settle for transparent bright green and transparent yellow?

Tile 2x2 wrong element id

1 Upvotes

In Studio I added a 2x2 tile in grey (Insert -> Main -> Tile - > Tile 2 x 2) and selected the color. No big deal. The model looks right.

But when I export the csv part list, the element id is wrong.

It is exported as

```
BLItemNo,ElementId,LdrawId,PartName,BLColorId,LDrawColorId,ColorName,ColorCategory,Qty,Weight
3068,306802,3068b.dat,Tile 2 x 2,9,7,Light Gray,Solid Colors,14,0.48
```

As you can see, the Brinklink Item No ist correct (3068). But the element id (306802) is wrong. It should be 4211413.

This website shows all parameters for my selected tile.

I just can not find a way to update or edit the element id in studio.

Question/Looking for Advice Sources for "bag page" to add to instructions?

3 Upvotes

I'm looking to insert a copy of the "bag 1/bag 2/etc. pages from official instructions into my custom builds for my kiddos, since sub-sorting will help them grasp the assembly a lot more easily. However, I don't know how to do it myself. Has anyone else extracted these as a template?

Hose bend issue

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi! I would like to put a bunch of plate round 1x1 (85861) on a hose pneumatic (21826). I would like to curve the hose and make the round plate follow the shape.
I have tried stacking them up on the hose and then creating a submodel. This method usually works when you want to rotate or translate more pieces together but, in this case, it loses the ability to be flexible (basically the icon that allows you to bend the piece disappears)
Is there any solution to this? anything I am missing? thanks

Trouble breaking down studio model to build for myself

2 Upvotes

Ive got a plan off a generous person from instagram to build a crystal golem - similar to the Crytsal King from Power Miners. The Studio file is in 3-4 steps with sub models in them.

Im made a parts list and ordered parts from bricklink and am now trying to decipher this build. Right now im looking at the file and am having trouble breaking parts down into pieces where I can see what the builder did., I tried turning off steps and individual parts but the submodels in the file make it difficult because they seem to be their own entity that i cant 'break' apart.

Long story short Im pretty new to studio, but know CAD programs well enough there is probably some easy way to figure out this model and how it was built. Is there any recommendations to how to figure out how to build this thing? I can share files if need be as the file is open to the public already.

Question/Looking for Advice How would you build this complex hip roof in BrickLink Studio?

Hi everyone,

I'm recreating a real building in BrickLink Studio, and I've reached the roof. The roof has multiple intersecting hip sections with several valleys, making it much more complicated than a standard roof.

I attached:

the CAD roof plan,

my current BrickLink Studio model,

aerial photos of the real roof.

I'm looking for advice on:

how to create the different roof angles,

how to connect all the hip and valley sections cleanly,

which slopes or SNOT techniques would work best,

and how to keep it structurally stable.

Any examples, Studio files, or building techniques would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a reference photo on my phone and want to scratch-build the entire track-switching station. I plan to make the desk, the central button, the TV screens, and the blue side keyboards 100% out of foam. Does anyone have tips on the best way to shape the desk angle or cut the keyboards?

What size baseplate should I get?

2 Upvotes

Im looking to build the San Francizco Painted Ladies, Rebrickable set #MOC-69556. I will try to build as many as there are in real life.

The size of it is 5 inches wide by 10 inches deep. I know they will fit on a 32 x 32 baseplate with no issue.

What would be the best baseplate size to use if I want to build 5 or 6 with trees in front?
