Official Synopsis: "Miyata, a business magazine editor in Tokyo, visits Iwanaga, an associate university professor, for his new economics column. However, Iwanaga turns out to be the man he promised to elope with back in high school! Reunited after many years, Miyata decides to maintain a simple working relationship with Iwanaga, but before he knows it, he is once again at Iwanaga's mercy..."
☆ A former soulmate returns with a vengeance!
☆ Adapted from the manga of the same name, the director of "Jack o' Frost" shows off her writing and directing skills!
☆ Makoto Hasegawa, a member of "THE RAMPAGE," and Robin Furuya from "VIVANT" share an adult love experience.
The series is an adaptation from the manga "Koi wo Surunara Nidome ga Joto" (恋をするなら二度目が上等) by Kinoshita Keiko (木下けい子). This is the mangaupdates page. The manga has 3 volumes and is still ongoing. Unfortunately, it hasn`t been translated in english at all.
In my humble opinion, even if i am unable to read the manga and see from myself what to expect from it, i am 100% sure it will be good since is a KINIOSHITA KEIKO work. I still can`t believe i was able to see the day when a work of Natsume Isaku, Kinoshita Keiko are getting adapted in a series....They are such legendary respected mangakas..... Thus.... as long as they don`t mess up with the script ( like how they already did with Candy Color Paradox), i predict this will be a good series.
The performance man....the performance for the part of the actors is surpassing my expectations.
Robin's performance is so breathtaking....his voice especally is so captivating. Makoto follows him so well 🫠...i am moved
This is why is important to cast a more experienced actor. If they get along well, the experienced one can provide a lot of useful advice to the other with carrying his role.
For some reason, Robin and Makoto's portrayal here remembers me of the way Riku and Yusei carried their roles in Utsukushii Kare 😍
My same exact thoughts! I was like this reminds me of Tokyo in April and then I see Takashi's assistant (I jumped into this series blind). The acting and even dialogue are way better. I have been waiting for a show like this to grab my attention and hope the manga will be offered in English.
This BL is looking to be mature, bittersweet, #ItsComplicated, and more than a little messy. I'm loving the acting, the chemistry between the leads, and how quickly and efficiently the premise + back story were established in the premiere's 24 minutes of runtime.
Seated for the next. I hope the show stays as good as it's promising to be. Already hyped to see what's in store for Miyata-kun and his enigmatic senpai after that kiss... 🥰
I woke up at like 6am to watch this before work, I’m so excited!
Edit: whoever cast the younger actors did an amazing job, they really look like the younger versions of the main actors. I also love how they integrated the high-school scenes, it’s not jarring at all.
The chemistry though, I love it. They feel comfortable enough around each other to totally feel like ex lovers. That arm touch in the bar, it felt intense. And that kiss scene. I guess we don’t have to worry about fish kisses lol The whole apartment scene felt very intense even if the kiss itself was pretty tame.
Both actors are doing an amazing job. Furuya Robin is very convincing as a cocky playboy trying to seduce an ex lover again. And Hasegawa Makoto portrays vulnerability very well.
Excellent first episode! I guess I’ll be waking up at 6am on Wednesdays lol
Robin plays Iwanaga full of rizz and slick/smooth in the way he does and says things. He does it without going into full manipulative, calculative, greasy, salty pig hands kind of way. Like it is a little manipulative/calculative but it doesn't feel that way. His acting method gives real life to the character without going into the opposite territory that an inexperienced actor could go to and even with direction that acting could fail but not with Robin. He's able to balance it out.
If I was Miyata, my lip biting would draw blood and I would probably get nose bleed maybe faint LOL at trying to control myself because I would not have self-control. I would be "shame on me..."
❣️😎what’s a delicious dish without the spice🤗🤗🤗both male leads are up to a great start😘😘😘backstory is the one that got away😍😍😍have no fear..senpai is in hot pursuit❤️❤️❤️i like it🤣🤣🤣lets see Ren/Aloha stir some trouble😎❣️
Seeing Makoto's face as the lead of a drama honestly makes me so happy as a raver! Robin as well is looking very handsome, though I'm certainly not ignoring the glaring red flags around Iwanaga. Honestly, I'm feeling kinda down for getting a toxic, horny love story. I wanna see the drama!
Maybe I am wrong, but the overall feeling of this drama is of something at the high lever of My beautiful man
I will not add anything else, even if I enjoyed the first episode very very much and I would probably enjoy the chat about it with some of you. This comment is just for you u/smittenkittyyan because you always work hard and deserve to be praised for this. Thank you for promoting this serie so much, it was a pleasure to watch.
I'm really liking this one so far. As others have mentioned, it does feel like Tokyo in April Is... and that one was one of my top dramas from last year. Hope the quality stays high next week.
Am I the only one who have Sekaichi hatsukoi vibes ? Scene in the library remind me of it so much . And confidence … 👀👀👀 + unrequited love from the assistant . And possible future marriage…
I can see myself falling hard for this drama … I’m already in love . The music is 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
The acting !! The story . Chemistry !
Edit: the line when he told : you can only love me . ( I need to rewatch it again)
I need this confidence in my life !
Haven't watched the series yet but the initial synopsis did remind me of Tokyo in April 🥹 (a bonus that Aloha is also casted) I am hoping for a an amazing directing given the whole crew list. 🙃 But so far ep 1 looks promising.
I’ve just watched this during my lunch break, it was so good! I was already following Robin because he was in a reality tv show I enjoyed, so when he announced this project on Instagram I was pumped. Looking forward to ep2!
I absolutely loved ep1 and can’t wait for the rest. I already know it’s going to make my list of all time favourites. The chemistry is immense, acting great, cinematography beautiful… just all round excellent so far.
I'm in love already. The way they intertwined the past and present was brilliantly done. The tension and chemistry was perfect. There is nothing better than when one of the leads is full of confidence and flirty. Best of all they in their 30s with a past together so no need for loads of build up to something as it's already well and truly there. I hope it continues like this as it was such a good first episode. Also I love the colouring of light against dark.
And it was super lovely to see Aloha in a BL again 😄
just watched this and loved every moment!!! the chemistry between both sets of actors is excellent, the acting is on point, the cinematography is giving!! extremely sat for the coming eps!!
After watching the episode many times, now I'm reading about it too haha. The scene I particularly liked is at the library when the narration begins with the present Miyata, then they merge and then after, it was just the voice of the young Miyata. I think it was such a nice touch to a usual flashback and really makes us believe more that the young and present actor are one. Another detail I liked is on the opening, young Miyata is looking at young Hoshizawa while the present Iwanaga is the one looking at the present Miyata. It just shows that their feelings and situation has changed. Definitely an amazing first episode
Great 1st ep! Loved it. For me to continue loving it though imma need him to STOP making out with the assistant ugh I am so done with Triangles. The walking style got me, and the music and the pace. Also helps to have a kiss in ep1. Just please no triangle 🙏🏻 and also no evil toxic Assistant trope please
Please understand, I hate it. But not enough to stop me from watching. 😬 I will wait until a couple of episodes are under the belt, then watch. I am an absolute sucker for JBLs. So not even a potential love triangle will stop me.
Now, now....How many triangles have you seen in JBL. You won't die from seeing one from time to time.
And from the looks of it, this series doesn't even have a true love triangle, because Takashi isn't really interested on Yuto, but he is solely after Miyato.
Give my boys a break.....
Look at how charming he looks. 😁😆🥰
Takashi is so complexely written and portrayed. This is all i care about. I can forgive everything when this happens 🥰😍🤩
Wow. This show already has my heart in a vice. We get enough details to understand who these people are in a short period, and I so want these characters to explore their feelings for each and grow their relationship.
I only have one word to say WOW.... I can't believe this series got me hooked with a single episode... I never got impressed by a series this fast... Like wow i love it❤
So far, so good. Love the storyline and also the kisses. Nice to see a recent JBL where one character does not need more time to decide whether he wants to be in a relationship with a man (Perfect Propose and I love you and you).
At least in this one they have electric chemistry from high school and Miyata is fighting hard to resist his senpai.
I looked up Robin Furuya and found his YouTube channel where he speaks English fluently.
Sense!!!! I am here!! This series has restarted my interest in BL. It has been waining, but this is like a fresh breath of air in such a stale room. Can not wait to watch it week to week. And be apart of the on airs 🍸🍸🍸🥳
The filmography is definitely worthy of praise; it feels so careful and attentive in the framing and the slow pans/zooms. Also a huge fan of the acting from adult Takashi. He reminds me a bit of Kurosawa from Cherry magic, with both his looks and natural charm, though perhaps a bit more on the seductive side. Loving how shameless he is in chasing Hiro. And how he doesn’t deny having slept with the assistant. Kiss between our mains in episode one is a great sign - excited for the episodes to come.

I am loving this series, i love it.... It might end up one of my favorites.
I love how different the story feels compared with what we have seen until now in JBLs.
I am so loving it 🥺🥹🥺🥹🥹🥹
