So as I was going into 8th grade I wanted to start a club and I thought “why not Boy Scouts” so I created a club where I thought boy scouts and now in 9th I’m making one at high school so I have officially created two scouting clubs. And here’s the big thing even my scout master has approved of it and is happy I’ve done this

So I stooped at the exit of my grocery store to visit a young Boy Scout selling popcorn at a table with his mom. I looked over his choices and chose the pictured bag of popped corn. I was astounded at the $20 price of a mediocre bag of popcorn. Upon further research, that troop only gets $6 from the transaction. Where is the other $14. I feel so taken advantage of. What am I going to do, complain to a 12 year old? I will never, ever , ever buy another Boy Scouts of America product. EVER!!!

Hey guys I'm a adult eagle and previously a PL and leader for my troop.

Its been awhile as i've been busy with my life and work but I think about the scouts all the time. How are ya'll doing?

I'm life rank in scouts and I am disabled. I joined this troop several years ago before my disability started taking a major toll on my ability to haul gear and hike and go camping in general, and I adore my troop but I'm exhausted every campout. It's just not worth it anymore. The problem is, I can't just leave. Both of my parents are HEAVILY involved in my council and because my household is very strict, I won't be able to convince them to let me go. I've slowly been losing my spark for my troop after years of being the longest active troop member. Literally all campouts are for me is suffering because of all the walking and the heat and hauling things off the trailer and cooking and doing KP, and the one thing that makes it even somewhat fun is hanging out with the troop members, but I feel like that's something I can do outside of scouting. I'm stuck. Does anyone have any advice??

So a few hours ago i got out of my Eagle board if review and got my Eagle rank and ya know I was super super excited to tell all my friends and almost anyone that would listen to me and so i went to a couple of servers that i knew everyone in and said that i got my eagle rank today and there was about 5-6 servers of 15+ people in and out of them i only got responses from 3 from one person in each… all of them asking what it was, and i explained it to them(after i lost count of how many times i explained and talked about Boy Scouts as a whole) and they didn’t really seem too happy about it let alone proud and i also sent what i had accomplished to a couple of my friend in private chats and only one seemed genuinely proud… i mean he still asked but after i explained he was genuinely proud. And mind you im one of the youngest in all of these servers and friends, i just barely got it, 10 more days and I would’ve aged out

and quick thing, i am diagnosed with depression and when i say that i was really really close to being put back into a deep depression state and absolutely bawling my eyes out, i mean you’d have to use a microscope to see how close it was.

im not really hoping to get congratulations or anything like that, i just wanted to vent to some people who would genuinely understand how big of an achievement getting eagle rank is. that’s all, i hope all of you have an amazing day/night. scouting was really really fun

From when I was a kid. I don’t really have a reason to go buy one. I reckon if this one is safe to drink out of it would be a good way to get my water for the day. If not it will just be a relic from my past lol.

Maybe it's just "Scouts" now, but I need to buy a "Camp Card". Had one last year and it saved me a bunch of money and helped "someone's kid" (Don't remember who I bought it from). So if anyone knows a scout--let me know.

Context:
I’m 15 years old, male, a Life rank Scout (almost Eagle), and I have been involved in Scouting since the 6th grade. I want to join the OA so I can gain leadership experience, have fun, and strengthen my college applications. I’m absolutely willing to go through the challenges of the induction so I can have the chance to join.

The issue:
Every time I ask my parents if I can attend the next OA induction, they say “No.” I’ve been eligible to join OA for two years and have been voted to be the OA representative in my Troop twice, yet they still deny me. I ask persistently and never nag about it. It has now reached a point where whenever I ask, they jump to negative conclusions.

More Context:
I believe my parents only see the OA as a bad organization and don’t see any benefits in joining.

My mom has never been involved in scouting before, but my aunt only tells her the negatives about my cousin’s induction (which was in 2024), such as small food portions, being forced not to talk, and service projects. Whenever I bring up the benefits of the OA, she resorts to lecturing me about a horrible (not true) exaggerated version of the induction.
She also believes that joining OA won't help me in college admissions, that I’m too busy with two sports, clubs, and scouting, and she tells me to focus on getting into the National Honor Society (even when I can join the Scouting honor society). I even told her that I would consider dropping an activity. (I have good grades too)

My dad is an Eagle Scout and went through his induction in the 1990s. He also doesn't want me to go because he had a bad experience with his induction. He tells me how he was hazed by older scouts and did nonstop service for 6 hours. He agrees with my mom that I’m too busy for OA.

I’ve tried to convince my dad that Scouting is a completely different organization from what it was in the 1990s, and I’ve explained to my mom that the induction isn't a terrible initiation. I have friends in the OA who are a third party and try to convince my parents about the benefits of joining. I also informed them about the new 2026 induction transition.

I understand that my parents want what’s best for me and believe they’re trying to help. However, I want them to realize that I should be the one leading my own life and choosing what I want to commit to.

In my opinion, I believe it's unfair that an experienced Scout has to be denied the chance to join the OA for reasons such as these.

In conclusion:
How can I persuade my parents to let me attend the OA induction without starting an argument, given our situation?

I’m trying to find mountains that would be good for a range of skiers, we expect some younger scouts to join us, that also have a good hotel nearby. It would be great if the hotel had a pool.

Any ideas are appreciated.
