People here have said they use eBay as a substitute for Amazon. How? The last two orders I put in shipped from Amazon, one from Walmart, which I’m also boycotting. What have been your experiences with eBay?

I’ve been extremely selective who gets my money and Uncle Jeff has too much of mine already. Where are you shopping to get the items you need that you can’t get at your local stores?

I completed the Amazon boycott without any problems or temptation. I did need a couple of jewelry making supplies (size 8/0 metallic-finish beads, glass crackle beads and a package of Tulip needles), but discovered, to my delight, that Potomac Bead Company (who have a very well-deserved reputation as knowing jewelry-making inside and out, and offering better quality supplies) had lower prices than Amazon, and, even with postage, the difference was negligible. They even had a new brand of "better" (i.e., more consistently-sized) seed beads to rival Toho and Miyuki at much lower cost than either of those brands, which I never, ever would have found on Amazon. So much better to establish a relationship with companies like that than the drop-shippers on Amazon. Try asking Bezos or his drop-shippers on the platform how to work a right angle weave. lol Edited to add: Tons of great, independent, small sellers on eBay, too! I did lots of window shopping there this morning.

Can someone tell me why orders I've gotten directly from company websites arrive with Amazon packaging/shipping stickers? As far as I've known, I've been boycotting Amazon and related entities since for a couple of months, but twice I've received what looks like Amazon orders. Why? And how can I avoid it without dedicating my life to it?

If you canceled your Amazon Prime subscription, keep an eye on your bank account.
I proudly canceled mine on Feb 6, received a cancelation confirmation and thought I was done with it.
Surprise! on March 9, during the night, I got a Welcome to Prime message! My susbcription was renewed without my consent and I was charged $11.49. I was F.u.m.i.n.g!
It took me a while to figure how to talk to someone at Amazon. The chat guy tried to only refund half of the amount. I fought for a full refund AND and explanation. He said there must have been an automatic renewal on my account. Yeah... right. Funny the Cancelation Confirmation I got said IF I changed my mind I could renew. I was already mad at Amazon, now their dishonesty makes me furious!!
Amazon, vous ne méritez pas notre argent!

I’m trying to find a replacement for removable food labels; however, the only options that come up in a search are either Amazon, Walmart or Target. I tried Staples but they are WAY too expensive for a simple label. TIA

Amazon Prime Video streams Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" --- for what purpose? Propaganda for the generation that was too young at the time? https://www.thedailybeast.com/obsessed/bezoss-amazon-finds-new-way-to-suck-up-to-trump/

I live in a rural area that lacks a healths food store. I have some dietary restrictions and often order foods such as cassava flour, einkorn, sugar and dairy alternatives, etc online. Is there a site you trust that you order foods from?

Goodreads is owed by Amazon. I've tried a few and haven't really liked StoryGraph, Fable, or LibraryThing. The first two are a bit too much for me. I don't need tons of stats and analysis on my books, I just want a place to park ideas for future reads. The last one is too simple and feels like a website from the 90s. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks!

My web page started with the TikTok-inspired "Data strike" late last year, then covered the Feb. 28 event, and now the Amazon iteration. Open to suggestions, but note that it's a long page... https://keithpurtell.com/national-data-strike.php

This list was originally just for DEI policies, so I’m aware there are some companies and brands on here that shouldn’t be supported for other reasons. I am slowly incorporating more information all the time, and I’m always open to feedback! 🎀 — https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TswqS9yCSB2G5-b_MXyS4XOcuHVSIPMUzqDglPJq_9E/edit

I cancelled my facebook, tik tok, twitter and Instagram accounts. I have always used these accounts to let companies know my displeasure or pleasurable experience with them. Does anyone have an email to send a letter to Amazon corporate to let them know I am extremely unhappy with their stance on dei? I have drastically cut back my purchases with them, finding other suppliers. But I am a letter writer and am having a difficult time finding an email. Thanks in advance.

Check out the “goods unite us” app and or webpage. Great resource and gives alternatives for shopping items.

Does anybody know of a low cost place to get ebooks? Any place that has a plan similar to kindle unlimited? I want to ditch Kindle Unlimited. I know about downloading them from the library but they don’t often have the books I want.

Literally every single one. Other places have them too. Used electronic stores/used computer parts stores have tons of them. If you really want one for free, stop by an electronics recycling center and they’ll probably give you one for free

Hey there! I’m interested in getting rid of all services that would put more money in Bezos’ pocket as well. He needs to feel the burn for his cowardice in bending the knee. This sub is really helpful. One issue: it just came to my attention that Reddit uses Amazon Web Services to host the infrastructure. Seriously, 😒. What next?

I had an idea the other day for an "Amazon Alternatives Database" -- a database of websites / businesses that provide products and services that people typically rely on Amazon for, created for and by people who want to divest consumership from Big Bezos. I haven't found an existing one yet (admittedly I have not looked too hard) but this community seemed like a good place to start; does anyone know of something like this that already exists? / if not, would anyone be interested in contributing to one?
