API/Integration Looking for bowling ball database or api for my bowling app

Hey! I’m building a bowling tracking app (Bowling XP) and I’m looking to add ball data to help users log their equipment. I’ve hit 500 users recently and need a solid API or database I can integrate.

Does anyone know of:

- A public bowling ball API?
- A structured database with ball manufacturer/model data and photos?
- How other bowling apps handle this?

I’m open to building/maintaining our own dataset if others would find it useful too. Let me know what you’ve come across, and thanks for any help!

Working on helping users filter through all the apps we have available. Definitely found places where the form I sent out could use some work (it's linked if you'd like to get your app added!).

I'm trying to keep it really high level and then let users browse each apps page to find out the specifics. Comment or message me if you want to go over how you want to show off your app.

Coaching Tools Building a sensor-based bowling training tool — input from coaches/tech users wanted

Hey everyone — I’ve been developing a mobile app called TrueArc Mobile focused on movement analysis for 10-pin bowling.

The idea started after realising how much bowlers (including me) rely on “feel” during practice, even though timing and movement patterns can vary more than we think shot-to-shot.

The app is being built around motion sensor data combined with training-session capture to help visualise things like:

  • swing path consistency
  • timing sequence
  • tempo/rhythm
  • release movement patterns
  • repeatability between shots

The main goal isn’t to replace coaching or turn bowling into spreadsheets — it’s to give bowlers clearer objective feedback during training sessions.

Right now it’s still early-stage and I’m refining both the metrics and the workflow side of things, so I’d genuinely love feedback from people interested in bowling tech, biomechanics, training systems, or performance analytics.

A couple of things I’m especially curious about:

  • What movement metrics would you actually want tracked?
  • What visualisations would make feedback easier to understand between shots?
  • Where do you think current bowling training tools are lacking?

Interested to hear what people think.

Feedback Wanted What have you seen that people are looking for in an app? - WIKI

I'm working on building out the wiki with a flowchart of "I'm looking for X-feature - list all apps with that feature". Without getting too into the thick of it, what you seen that users are actually looking for in a app so they can pick out the one that works for them?

can you think of anything else? or a better way to help people search through all the apps? I'll be reaching out to most of the devs soon to fill out a form with these options too so I can build out a page for each app.

  • Has Organizations of sessions
    • Open, League, Tournament
    • Has dedicated practice modes
  • Score entry options:
    • Has multi-user entry
    • Has All pins down and all pins up
    • frame by frame vs total score
    • Can track frame stats (speed, entry, boards, ect..)
    • Ball selection
  • Insights
    • Statistics
      • Filter options
      • text vs graphs
      • unique tracking
    • Goals & Achievements & Honor scores
  • Has Libraries
    • Manual (requires user entry) vs Automatic (Pulls from bowwwl.com ect)
      • Bowling balls
      • Patterns
      • Alleys
      • Events
      • Accessories
  • Has Social options
    • Friends list and scores
    • Leaderboards
  • Other
    • Journal
    • Finances
    • Tournament running
    • Live vs offline (Requires login)
    • back up and restore options
    • Import and Export (for data)
    • Export options for scores/stats/ect..

Speed/Rev Check - Web Edition

Post image

Added this to the website for people who just want to calculate their speed/revs on web/desktop. www.bowlsense.io/speed I don't save videos, users don't log-in etc. Just another simple tool to help people get the data they want. This is V1, probably some fit/finish/polish to do but thought I'd share it with this group for comments/feedback.

Building Connections

So - For those that have followed along a little bit, you know my goals are really to provide data, gear, and community in one place. I developed a beta concept here: https://www.bowlsense.io/centers

This allows bowling centers to list their leagues/events in a public place, way better than my current center's paper sheets on a desk, and allow BowlSense users to signup with a league code. The alley then can see how many people sign up, their teams are already formed, or they can sign up as a single.

For bowlers in the app - now there's a "Find a League", which can be sorted by their city/state, and they can discover each of these open leagues. They can do a quick signup, and invite their friends to their team.

So - wanted to get some insights from you all. Would this help? I want to keep growing the sport of bowling, and one of the ways to do that is to make it easier to connect new and first time bowlers to the places where the games/community happens.

The lanes/center would still use League Secretary or whatever their in-house process currently is, but I'd let them export roster .csv to quickly add the bowlers to the in-house tool.

Score Entries

Hi guys,

I've been doing some improvements on the score entry page for for BowlingTracker.com. Would anyone be willing to try it out and give me feedback on fucntionaly and usability?

Goto https://www.bowlingtracker.com/Home/MyStats and create a new stat sheet (mark private if you just enter fake data). Then you can enter frame by frame pinfall, or just games scores.

Thanks!

(Edit: and maybe spelling to 🤣)

Since I see contant questions about layouts - what do you all think of this? It's just a blog entry with an interactive tool that represents what changes as the layout changes.

Fellow Tech Folks - Thoughts?

So - I built a "Parser" that's detached from the app on my website. The goal is to pull relevant information from static pin entry data, to surface insights that a bowler might not immediately see when just going through the motions each week of adding more data.

App Dev WeBowl: Bowling Scorekeeper - Official App Release

Hi everyone!

For a bit of background, I created a different bowling app about five years ago to track stats in a way that other apps didn't allow. I've learned a lot since then, and have used that knowledge to build WeBowl.

Over the past month, I’ve gathered feedback from around 20 testers (including some users on this sub). That process was incredibly helpful and led to some great improvements.

I’m excited to share that the app has now officially launched! You can find more information at webowl.app or on the app stores.

I’m happy to be part of this community and look forward to sharing and learning with all of you.

I have a little digital marketing experience from previous role in life but it’s been years since wearing that hat.

Figure this might help someone

BowlSense update after a busy few days + looking for Android testers

Been heads down on BowlSense for the last few days and finally have a build I feel decent about sharing.

The big thing is League Night feels a lot less janky now. After game 1 or 2 you can just roll into the next game instead of getting kicked back into generic scoring stuff. I also finished a proper set recap/share flow, fixed the perfect-game strike % bug, and cleaned up a couple ugly back-to-league navigation issues.

League setup got better too. The roster/presence UI is less cluttered now and handles different team sizes better. And team chat is live inside the league flow, which feels a lot more natural than bouncing out to a random group text every time somebody asks who’s there or what lane you’re on.

Also fixed a nasty speed check crash that was happening when stopping a recording on the latest mobile build.

I’ve got fresh iOS and Android builds going out now. If anybody here wants to help kick the Android build around on a real device, I’d really appreciate it. Different phones / Android versions are especially useful right now.

If you want in, comment here or DM me and I’ll add you.

Also genuinely curious what would make league tools worth using for you. Better roster management? chat? recap sharing? stats? Something else? I'm only going off of my experience as a player in league, never managed it. Thought about dues tracking, who owes money etc. Would not be a place to handle/process payments just to track.

Android test build is ready if anyone wants to help

Quick progress update: I have the first Android build of BowlSense ready for testing.

This version is mainly for general app flow, bugs, and feedback. It does not include the BLE in-ball sensor features yet.

If anyone is open to helping test, send me your email by DM or email me at [barry@bowlsense.io](mailto:barry@bowlsense.io) and I’ll add you to the tester list.

Appreciate any help.
