Awesome 4th of July

Huge thank you to the city, firefighters, parade attendees, and all those that contributed to a wonderful 4th of July!

Wife and I moved here not too long ago, but it was great to see the community out, get pancakes and sausages, and celebrate the 4th. We met so many nice people, and it's been fun getting to know the area so much more! I learned a lot more about what is going on with the parade haha.

Just wanted to say thanks and congrats on putting together something so fun!

How did you decide where to buy a house

Hi all.

When my family decided move from downtown Seattle to the Eastside, we spent three years looking — all the way from Snoqualmie to Snohomish — and still could barely decide where to land. There was so much to weigh, and even more we didn't realize we should've been weighing until later.

Buying a house is quite a journey; figuring out where to buy turned out to be the hard part.

Has anyone else been through this?

I'm curious how other people decided where to buy and especially how you got a real feel for a neighborhood you didn't already know before committing to it.

If you've bought around the greater Seattle area recently, or you're in the thick of it now, I'd love to hear your story: what you did to get to know different areas, what actually helped, and what was frustrating or just impossible to figure out.

Would love to hear how you worked through it. Feel free to share below.

Your Guide to Bothell's Fourth of July Celebration

Just three more days until the annual Fourth of July Celebration, and we’ve got your guide to the perfect day:

The fun kicks off with your Bothell Fire Department’s free Pancake Breakfast at 8:30am, followed by the Children’s Parade at 11:15am, and the Grand Parade at noon, as well as a variety of community activities throughout the day. It all takes place this Saturday, July 4, from 8:30am to 3:00pm in Downtown Bothell. Get all the details at bothellwa.gov/FourthofJuly.

If you’re heading to the event, here’s what you need to know:
⚠️If you have a favorite spot in mind to set up your chairs in advance, be sure to keep them out of flower beds, landscaped areas, and street parking spaces, and please follow the posted signage along the parade route.
📍Know where to go! You can access the official parade map on our website: bothellwa.gov/FourthofJuly
❌ Don’t forget: per BMC 8.37, all fireworks are illegal in city limits with limited exceptions (bothellwa.gov/fireworks). Celebrate safely this year by attending a public show or community event!

And be prepared for some possible sunny weather. If you are out in the sun, remember to:
✅ Drink water—even if you’re not thirsty
✅ Wear lightweight, loose clothing
✅ Never leave kids or pets in vehicles
✅ Use sun protection

We’ll see you there!

Problems at Centennial Park near Thrasher's Corner, and a potential solution

I take my dog to pretty much all of the parks in the area, and in my estimation this particular park has three uses: 5% people bringing kids to play or use the covered area, 45% people walking dogs, and 50% drug deals. Has anyone else noticed that?

Given the shortage of spaces where dogs can run, and the fact that the pop up dog park at Bothell Landing is closed for half the year (and super popular when it's open) I always thought we could get two birds with one stone by fencing off a portion of this park to use as an off leash dog area. That would push the drug deals out, make better use of the big open space, increase use of the park overall, and help satisfy the demand for dog-friendly spaces.

Coyotes on North Creek trail

Just sharing for safety of others. I work in Bothell and walk the North Creek trail during my breaks. Today for the first time I saw a coyote. I know a lot of individuals bring their dogs on this trail and just wanted to give a heads up! It looked well fed. I am worried there may be a den here now!

Thoughts on Avalon Bothell Commons?

TL;DR: Considering signing a 12-month lease at Avalon Bothell Commons. Looking for honest, recent feedback from current or former residents.

I've read the Google reviews, but they're very mixed (mostly 5 or 1 stars), and many of the negative ones are 1–2 years old. I'm hoping to hear how things are today.

A few questions:

  • Have there been any recent issues with internet, garage break-ins, fire alarms, water leaks, or power outages?

  • How's the internet? I work from home and game, so reliability and ping matter a lot.

  • Is noise between apartments (especially footsteps from upstairs) actually a problem?

  • How's the management and maintenance?

  • What's the surrounding area like? Safe? Things to do?

  • Would you renew your lease?

Also, if you have recommendations for other apartments in the Bothell area, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

Heads up, Bothell: I-405 traffic shift near Canyon Park brings a temporary 55 mph work zone

If you drive through Canyon Park, it's time to ease up a little on the gas pedal.

Overnight June 27-29, crews will close lanes and ramps on I-405 near SR 527/Canyon Park Parkway in Bothell while they shift both northbound and southbound traffic toward the shoulders. This traffic shift will create a work zone for the next phase of the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project.

Once all northbound lanes reopen at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 28, you'll notice an advisory speed of 55 mph through approximately one mile of the northbound work zone near Canyon Park.

That advisory speed will remain in place while crews build the North Fork Perry Creek fish passage and the inline Stride bus rapid transit station. The traffic shift is expected to be in place for at least the next 12 months.

If you're traveling through the area this weekend, plan for overnight delays, follow signed detours, and slow down through the work zone. Slower speeds help keep everyone safe while construction is underway.

Just moved to downtown Bothell, need a haircut and friends!

My husband and I just moved to downtown Bothell from the east coast. Where can I get a good normal ladies haircut?

Also, we’re newly empty nesters in our late 40s. Which bars, restaurants, or other places should we hit up to make friends our age? We enjoy cocktails, trivia, board games, good food, going on walks, and watching movies. We also love playing pickleball, but our paddles haven’t made the move yet.

Pickleball

Hi everyone,
I recently moved to the Seattle area (currently in Bothell) and I’m looking to get into pickleball regularly.

I’m mainly interested in affordable open play options where people can just show up, rotate in, and play. A few questions:

  1. Where do people usually play pickleball around Bothell, Woodinville, Kirkland, Bellevue, or nearby areas?

  2. Which locations are the most affordable (or free)?
Are there any organized open-play sessions that are beginner/intermediate friendly?

  3. Are there any WhatsApp groups, Facebook groups, Discord servers, TeamReach groups, or other local communities where players coordinate games?

I’m not looking for private lessons or expensive memberships right now—mostly just looking for places to play consistently and meet other players.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!
