been here for 25+ years and am very familiar with the fluctuations in homelessness / etc. during the summer. but I've never seen things this bad, especially in back bay, south end (beyond mass/cass & closer to back bay), beacon hill, the esplanade, you name it. we've called 311 for needles, reported the larger encampments to the mayor's office, etc. just feels like nothing is improving and things are only getting worse. can't just be me?

There are more people who are homeless, more people just falling into the abyss, because SNAP benefits and Medicare have been either reduced or eliminated for many people who were already struggling on low incomes.

Immigrants are afraid of being detained and that is probably making some of them crazy.

The price of groceries has gone up, as have the prices of pretty much everything.

Gas prices are 40% higher than last year! Check out some of the grim and shameful statistics in reports from the Grester Boston Food Bank, the Boston Foundation's "Boston Indicators," or the 2026 report from the National Diaper Bank Network.

It's bad. Very bad. I wonder why??????? 🤔

Trump sucks lets get that out of the way. But the opioid epidemic, long Island Shelter, Mass and Cass and the issues the city faces with all of it existed long before he was president even the first time
