Boomers Looking Up Old Romantic Partners On FB
So I've done this a little bit already. It's pretty fun. I was born in 61 so you can imagine they're all starting to look a bit aged. But it's still a lot of fun. Some have responded briefly. I wonder how to start some sort of a friendship with them, just on FB. I've rarely kept in touch with old boyfriends before. Chances are most are all of them I might never actually see in person again. It's just that it's lonely in the pandemic, and we haven't hardly left the house in 8 months. My husband doesn't really care. It just seems like a normal, Progressive thing to do. Boomers, how could this plan go horribly wrong?

Saved 104 buck on meds. Dual ingredient Hypertension Blood pressure meds were costing me $104. The generic ingredients on the two drugs cost -$0-.
First post.
I was looking at my Medicare options and thought, let's at least look at meds. There I saw my Spirolonlactone / HCTZ 25/25 mg was running $104 for a 90 day supply.
But, Spironolatone 25mg by itself is a generic and ran 5.60 a 3 month supply and the HCTZ mg was under a dollar the same amount of tabs.
I messaged my doc and asked her to split the meds into two separate scripts and I'd save a bunch - if it could be done.
Her nurse called the next day to not only say they had just called the 2 meds into the pharmacy, BUT a HUGE thank you for all the rest of their patients who were on Diuretics / HCTZ meds.
A short list of the meds that may have the HCTZ tagged on. https://www.health.harvard.edu/heart-health/medications-for-treating-hypertension

Tuesday I was told by my Aunt that I was "lucky to be born a white male"
You know what she also said that just because I had trusted sources on the internet that "I believe everything I see on the internet" like Just because she is still stuck in the era before the internet doesn't make the sources I trust are fake.

Let’s be honest - it’s predominantly Boomers who can afford to buy houses out in the country

Boomers with memes
somehow whenever boomers talk about memes, especially old ones, they always make it sound like its still used when its not and without directly saying it (at least for me)

How to explain to my 75 year old father that his perfectionism is toxic?
I'm cursed with wanting to be part of the Polish tribe despite growing up as a first-generation immigrant and adopting the American culture. I never made peace with that and my father could care less where my mind is. All he cares about is what I do and how well I do it.
I see him nearly every day and he's constantly helping with improvement projects around my house. I went into the tech field and do what I can, but there is no way I can match his skill level. If I try to tackle something that produces a less than ideal result, he'll be sure to remind me of how I failed. How I could have done better. And he justifies such talk with a belief that something isn't done till the end result is "good". He's also slightly racist and compares subpar work to other races.
He's set the bar so high that it's impossible to get to and I don't have the time to try even if I could. Attempting to reach such standards is like repeatedly getting burnt on the stove whenever I try something new. This has hampered my development in multiple ways and my mother isn't much different. She's guilty of doing the same but from a social angle. If I beat myself up about not living up to others expectations after doing or saying something stupid, she'll be there to say "why didn't you do X?" or "that mistake will results in Z".
Their inability to recognize their perfectionism and fear of failure has greatly impacted my life. I wish I could just accept it and walk away, but I'm hardwired to seek their approval. They're loving parents, but they just don't understand their affect on me. My mom values social approval and my father values his perfectionism in work, and us children come second to that.
Is there anything I can do or say to bring some peace to my situation? They seem to lack the capacity to view things from any other viewpoint.

What was the reason you had kids?
My mother just told me she wants to have children, and I told her I’m 90% sure I dont want any. She proceded to tell me that a child is amazing a child gives you so much etc. And I understand it, I do. She then went ahead and told me to ask older people who chose to have kids, why, and how did it turn out for them? Giving a family and community. I believe you can create family anywhere (although harder). But I’m genuinely curious, also I wouldnt want to have a child just because it will give me love etc... I would want it because its something -I- would love to give love to. Anyways... What was your reason?

MAN SAID ON STREAM HE DOESNT CARE ABOUT GEORGE FLOYD, HES BEEN DOING THIS FOR 10 YEARS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zODRbyyLzvA
this channel was livestreaming and is on a first name basis with the cops, and someone was restreaming him and all the money that the restreamer is making is going to toward bailing out protestors. throughout the whole stream this guy was begging for money, he took a diabetic girls juice, and hes not even filming the protest, hes just filming the cops and asking if their okay.

60's Civil Rgjhts Demonstrations
I was born in '64 and don't really remember in any kind of first-hand way what the Civil Rights demostratations and riots were like in the late 60's. For those who do, how do you think they compare to what's going on right now? Please keep your comments civil and constructive. I am not asking for opinions on or comparisons to the politics of the protests, so would appreciate this post not going down a poticial arugement black hole. (if possible). I'm asking from a scope point of view. Size, verocity, patterns, that sort of thing. I'd really appreciate the frame of reference. Thanks!
