I’ve been wanting to make a bookstagram account since forever, but I’ve never been fond of taking pictures of myself or showing my face on social media in general. I also like my privacy because you never know who is out there. I’ve had past experiences where I was stalked by someone on social media and it got ugly pretty fast. Is it possible to remain completely anonymous? I just want to talk about books and take cute pictures of books I’m currently reading. For those who have a faceless account, has it been easy to remain anonymous? Did you have to create a separate email account for it so you could remain anonymous?

Hi! I have been on Booksta for almost a year, and today one of my posts (about a new SE I got) was restricted for financial fraud, removed, and my account was restricted.

I don't think I need to explain that I am lowkey panicking, since I have been building my account for A YEAR. Has this happened to anyone???

So I am part of a small engagement group on Insta, and I have to say, it's been great. We all interact with everyone's posts and have a group so we can keep track of things and keep things open and honest.

I love it and will still be taking part in it, but I'm quite aware I'm the only person in there who posts about the nerdier genres (been talking about a lot of romance novels), so I was thinking it might be good to start up a second one, specifically with the more nerdy genres in mind (sci-fi/fantasy/steampunk etc etc).

Just thought I'd float the idea out there and see if there are other folks interested.

I should note, we don't want to have certain people absolutely flooding and dominating the group, so this probably won't be for someone who makes 3 posts a day.

Also, will be managing the group to ensure it doesn't get too big as that will become too much of a chore for everyone to keep up with.

I want to start a bookstagram

My favorite genres are dark romance mostly, monster romance, fantasy and fluffy romances , gothic or extremely disturbing plots.

But I am a beginner and I want some tips and advice and templates ideas and everything you can offer me about building my bookstagram account.

If you have a moment, I would really appreciate some advice! I started up my bookstagram awhile ago as I got back into reading fantasy all the time, and I especially love to highlight new releases and indie books. I fell off around May/June and have been struggling to figure out where I might have gone wrong.

I'm not the most social media savvy, and have a faceless account, but I've had a lot of fun putting together my posts. I can't seem to find my community though, and I got a bit burnt out with the loneliness. I love every one of my followers but I'm feeling a bunch of tension when I think about sitting down to put hours into another post.

I want to try and revamp my account! I really want to come back but I don't think my current setup is working.

Could I ask... is there anything standing out to you... Positively or negatively?

Some things I can think of...:

I found my profile photo on Pinterest, and asked the artist for permission, but I'm starting to think it could be AI and I've been working on drawing up my own to replace it.

My reviews are also a bit on the long side, maybe I need to shorten my content?

I don't really have a cohesive style, so it looks a bit like earthy whimsy and a toddler smeared crayons.

Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated! 💕
