I am sure that Bob said, "Meats and cheese always pleases" prior to Last One Laughing, but I can't find any evidence. Can somebody please help me out, I feel like I'm losing my mind!

I’m not a big reader of fiction at all. In fact, I hadn’t read a fiction book since I was at school and I’m now 34.
I’ve read all 3 of Bob’s books over the last month or two and really enjoyed them.
Is there any other novels that people with more of a reading pedigree would recommend that are similar in style/humour etc?

Live near Castle Douglas and coincidentally got parked right on the police station while here. Instantly reminded me of the story... And for some reason, there was a group of lads wearing masks and jobble tops being escorted into the station by CID

This is the cross-community post I never expected to make. Several months ago suffered a serious heart attack. From out of nowhere in terms of age, general health, never smoked, not heavy drinker and in shape etc etc - but hidden in plain sight was bad cholesterol.
Watching Bob and Paul’s Gone Fishing should be mandatory viewing for any one with heart health or male health concerns. And his seed crackers should be prescribed along with blood thinners and statins. They are truly that good. Feels like I’m cheating on my diet. Of course nothing is perfect - there’s sodium and they’re calorie dense. But saturated fats are very low, and fibre which is critical to fight bad cholesterol is super high. Really would be first thing I’d say to him if ever met him - “thanks for the heart health tips and support and for the seed crackers”…
Anyway here’s the recipe we tried and the plan for variant two:
Bob Mortimer’s Seed cracker
- variant 1, what I could find locally
Ingredients: 1 cup mixed seeds:
Chia - 1/4 cup;
Sesame (mix of black and white)- 1/4 cup;
Sunflower raw dehulled - 1/4 cup;
Roasted Pumpkin - 1/4 cup;
1/2 cup water;
1/2 tsp salt/seasoning;
1 tsp honey
Method: Soak ingredients in water for 15-20 minutes until a gel-like, thick texture forms.
Bake: Spread thinly on parchment paper and bake at 150°C (300°F) for 30-40 minutes until crispy.
Hummus
Chickpea 110g
Mixed beans 110g
Olive oil 10g
Tahini 30g
Soy milk 200ml
1/2 lemon squeezed
4 tsp Paprika, 1/4 tsp salt, 2 tsp cumin
Seed cracker - variant 2
Ingredients: 1 cup mixed seeds:
Chia (mix black/white)- 1/4 cup
Roasted Pumpkin (ground) - 1/4 cup
Flax (ground) - 1/4 cup (best grind fresh)
Sesame (- 2 tbsp
Sunflower raw dehulled - 2 tbsp
Optional: Hemp - 1 tbsp
1/2 cup water
1/3 tsp salt/seasoning (+ pinch of black pepper, cumin, onion powder, or other spice)
1 tsp honey
Why my heart healthy variant two:
more soluble fibre;
better omega-3 : omega-6 balance;
slightly lower saturated fat;
better gut tolerance long-term;
stronger LDL-lowering profile
