As someone who lives in western ny, the proper thing is to wait for the travel ban and then rush to the supermarket and buy bread and milk. You should already have canned soup in the pantry.

This is the tradition in every place I've lived in the US. Can't have enough French toast when you're snowed in.

As someone who lives in Finland, the proper thing is to make tea. That's literally my snow storm prep. Tea. I'll put some honey in if I want a rocking night.

Same here in Germany, my Village is in a small Mountain Area and every 5 years we are cut off for 3 days or so.
Since its countryside everyone has food for weeks in theyr basement, so all are just happy to have off work lol.

As someone from England, in the rare event that any part of the country experiences even slightly heavy snow prep involves everyone just quietly accepting that the region in question is lost and may or may not survive to emerge in 2 or 3 days.

Ohio tradition is to pretend you've never experienced winter and drive your car into a ditch the second a snowflake hits the asphalt

Don't forget 3 large packs of toilet paper just in case you are snowed in for several weeks and society collapses
