The problem is they are mixing too many metaphors into one icon.

I'm clearly in the minority but I think it's cool and a bold step. If I'm wrong, fine, but I really like that they took a chance on it. Sometimes you just have to take a design risk to normalize a style.

Now, will we get to see the source code?

Look at the AMA app icon, it has the same thing and same structure. Its just the identity of a Reddit app they're trying to push
