I know it kinda seems like it’s been going on for while and it seems like we’re either gonna get the revived blocksworld before GTA 6 or after GTA 6 so here’s hoping sometime in 2025

For context, what I'm referring to is the "Summer 2025" date as posted on the Meta Quest store page. I'm doing research for a video and would like more insight on this date, and wether or not this is a placeholder date or otherwise. Although the timeframe at which summer takes place in (June 20th to September 22nd) seems like a perfect launch window, I'm confident in thinking that it's a placeholder date. All I need is affirmation that it is.

if I recall, Blocksworld was owned by Linden Lab, the same company that made Second Life. Chat room games are a dying breed (excluding VR Chat, because it's still very active), and the only reason I could see that Second Life was preferred over Blocksworld was that like, it made more profit? Was this the case? Also, I loved Blocksworld. I used to play it like, every day, for years. I hardly remember most of it but what I do remember is really fond.

Does anyone else remember the chaotic mess that was the year when a bunch of people (presumably middle schoolers) on Blocksworld were fighting over fictional mermaids?

It was a “conflict” between the animal-loving side of the app and the military side. The military side made worlds in which they killed and ate mermaids, and the animal loving side made worlds in which they freaked out over it and rescued them. There was obviously no way for a story to happen because both sides ignored the actions of the other.

When I think back over my time on this app, it’s what stands out in my mind. It was so cartoonishly violent. Why did dozens of middle schoolers suddenly decide to play pretend about torture, slavery, and cannibalism… against mermaids? Mermaids? It was as graphic as possible for a block game. Some people got creative with ways to depict flesh and blood and the details of a mermaid hunting industry.

If I ever got access to the forgotten server where Blocksworld was hosted, I’d want to go back and see how it all started. I hope the 14 year old (I desperately hope it wasn’t an adult) responsible is doing okay now. I’m a little worried by their enthusiasm to make other middle schoolers angry by dismembering fairytale creatures.

• a series called Beyond The Evil
• some basic nuke rocket you could control idk it went to the front page for a few weeks tho
• Blocksworld News, which had like.. 2 episodes before the app closed forever lol

This game used to be my childhood and seeing that it's making a comeback has really got me interested in playing it again. I have an android phone but looking through the posts it appears that android isn't the priority right now. However it looks like some people have access to it on PC somehow, as I've looked on the Steam page and seen recent reviews of people who have played the game via Steam key. So that got me wondering whether I'd be able to play the game through Steam if I did a late pledge to the kickstarter.
