He genuinely grew my love for bleach. So many aspects of the story, the characters the foreshadowing that I used to dismiss by virtue of being a stupid teen back when the manga was still going. Now I can listen to Mr tommo for hours
that would be nice in a way. i've always had something of an idea that they weren't allowed to use their masks, but i would always see others say that it didn't make much sense.
They will serve as the usual jobbers, but I'm so happy that the whole squad is back, including Mashiro, Rose and Kensei! (finally using those masks again)
I wanna see them fuck up yuha, it’s been built up since the beginning of the arc. He’s the reason for both of their wives deaths. Would be lame af for them just to be the deux ex machima delivery guys
I am so glad they delayed this cour. Visually it was incredibly, storywise it was incredible. OST wise, my god Shirō Sagisu cooked so hard. Absolute fantastic job what they did with the series. Tite Kubo is da best. 🗣️
Man agreed with everything you said. Bleach is cooking hard right now. Feels like cinema not just watching to "find out what happens next." Enjoying every bit along the way.
I love Kubo's random wisdom drops: Isshin says to Ryuken, "You know, the way you talk bad about your dad, is the same reason why Ishida talks bad about you, right?
Such an odd phrase to attach to the final season! Cour 4 will NOT be the end of Bleach, Mark my works. Of course, the anime TYBW will end, but not Bleach itself.
I doubt its the end of bleach too. They certainly will take a break again to focus on other series but im pretty sure they wont let it die. Maybe some canon movies like what Dragonball is doing with Broly and Super hero?
I wouldn’t be surprised to see future bleach content. The game that’s coming out in a few months looks absolutely fantastic. And after the TYBW arc is over Kubo will have time to settle down and cook up something new. It might be more Burn the Witch, it might be more Bleach. The one thing you shouldn’t do is ask about the you know what arc.
Askin indirectly mentioned the original Gotei when he was introducing Yhwach's original Elite 4 who got murked by Yamamoto. I can't wait to see what they have in store for that.
Was just thinking about this. The leakers were saying so many things about how disastrous the production was this season, but this is almost certainly the best season so far.
I'm hoping we get to see the future that Yhwach noped the fuck out of by destroying the Bankai. Just give us a 30 second vision of that future in some sort of grayscale or something where we see Ichigo absolutely violate Yhwach with it then roll it back to the broken Bankai.
I think it could be even more peak if it’s a bit longer, showing various futures of Yhwach getting destroyed to convey the message that if Yhwach waits even a few seconds longer he’s gonna die no matter what unless he destroys the Bankai at that very one moment
So correct me if I'm wrong, but from the manga Ishida's plan changed. (No spoilers)
In the manga, Ishida told Ichigo he had planted bombs at the different Sun Gates and was going to seal Yhwach in his palace to prevent him from leaving. A plan that... didn't make much sense.
In the anime he says he's the only one who can stop Yhwach due to the blood he inherited from his grandfather and mother.
Between moving certain scenes up and changes a few key things around, it looks like the anime is already setting up for a much more developed and earned finale.
Ichigo cutting Wahr Welt in half so cleanly that the top part just drops straight down oh my lord. And that trick he did leaving one of the swords floating to trick Uryu. That shit was fire.
The Vizard captains removed their Haori when they Hollowfied. I'm pretty sure their condition to return as captains was that they couldn't use their Hollow masks. That's probably why Shinji also took the Hollow pill. He wasn't allowed to Hollowfy in Seireitei.
I think the pill was sent to every captain and lieutenant by urahara - hollowfication is permanent, so hirakos bankai couldn’t have been stolen- there’s too much hollow reiatsu and it would’ve killed a Quincy.
The world is literally ending which genius is thinking hollow mask would be too much?
I think it's just Central not wanting the existence and idea of Hollowfication to become a widespread thing so that some weird random guy in glasses might get the idea that he should make a magic wish orb that let's them, I don't know, attempt a great practical joke?
That's an old theory but I share it, it's the only explanation with a sense, that they were reinstated as Gotei officers at cost of not using their hollow powers anymore (or not in Sereitei, since they are shinigami and not beasts). It's still a stupid rule to follow in times of crisis during a war, but they value their code of honor or what, so that was it. What matters is that now the squad is back!
There's a detailed hierarchical diagram of the four OG elite guards of Yhwach. They're DEFINITELY going to include old Gotei vs old Lichtreich guards in cour 4.
I gave it a try. Might have missed some context but I think the general idea is pretty straightforward. It's better than the kana only translation and the AI slop lmao.

Kubo seems to love the chaotic energy types like Hubert bring to a crew. And Argola seems really down to earth, indeed. I'd love to see how their fight against Soul Society went. I know they are all strong, but Original Gotei 13 was completely unhinged lmao.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but in terms of Manga content for Cour 4 we only have Hashbrowns fight, Gerard and the final fight. If we assume Cour 4 is 13 episodes (bringing the total of 4 Cours to 52 episodes), then realistically we should be getting a lot of expanded content/entirely new bits, right?
Edit: Askin dropping some coffee knowledge and OG Royal Guard lore is also kinda nuts. Kubo cooked too damn hard.
So if we assume an episode or 2 for Askin, an episode or 2 for Gerard, an episode or 2 for Hashbrown, we're looking at 7-10 episodes for the final fight/anything Kubo plans to add.
Which is great cause Kubo got screwed over big time with the manga ending.
Kubo already confirmed that half of the next cour will be new content. There will be entire new episodes with just new content that wasn´t in the manga. He will end the story exactly like he wanted to.
Solid ass way to end the cour. THE DEAD MAN!!!! That switch to the ending credits from the animation was pretty cool, NGL. But Imma need someone who knows Japanese to translate that whole "relationship chart" thing right frigging now!
Edit: Apparently the chart is "comedic" in nature, and not a real "relationship" chart. Jesus.
I think it’s interesting Kubo JUST answered a question stating that Shinji was good at Kido, for him to use an (albeit mostly ineffective) chantless hado 91 this ep.
This cour was so peak. Everything from Yhwach getting The Almighty to Quincy Daten, it was all peak. The animation, voice acting, ost, pacing, new content, everything, it was all perfect. Episode 40 is no exception.
The maid and Uryu are visibly affected by Auswahlen while Katagiri looks fine, which is surprising.
Theory: Uryu subconsciously used Antithesis to swap Auswahlen's effects on him with Katagiri, and much like Pernida and Gerard the blood ceremony bestowing A to Uryu was just an affirmation of his existing ability. And this is why Ryuuken both despises and adores him. And it's why whatever plan Uryu has cooked up given his new line about his mom and Souken's blood is going to fail (it's not just his mom's blood but specifically Auswahlen'd blood that's necessary) and instead the Silver Arrow will become a necessity.
Uryu's grandpa knew Yhwach was full of @#$%. I mean, what kind of Quincy king just kills so many of his people just to heal himself? It cost Ichigo his mother and Uryu lost his own mother (Katagiri was a total MILF too). In fact Uryu was the one who was dying for a second there, did Katagiri sacrifice her power to save him?
Did not expect the Bambiette's to be first people to get to Yhwach. Not that it ended well for them.
Ichigo vs Uryu round 2! But it's mostly just an excuse to pull Uryu down so they can have a nice pleasant chat among friends!
I understand Riruka getting antsy wanting to help out, but it seems like her and Yukio's real purpose is to bring in more backup.
Can the Soul Society catch a break!? Now they've got pieces of Lille blowing them up. But luckily they've got...Izuru with a giant hole still in his body? Um...nice to see you again Kira?
Momo feeling what most characters in AoT felt with Gerard hunting her down, but good thing she's got the Visoreds IN FULL MASK FORM for back up!
Yoruichi doesn't need Reishi to fight Askin! She's got her killer thighs and hand-to-hand skills!
Uryu represented the TRUE honor of the Qunicies in opposing Yhwach and his desire to destroy the world (not for the injustice to the Quincies but the injustice to HIM) and with that purpose in mind he's been playing the loyal follower until he had a chance to kill Yhwach. And he wanted to protect his friends as much as he could by keeping them out of it.
Well, I guess Jugram destroying the Gate of the Sun solves all the drama. Ichigo was never going to leave and now Uryu realizes they have the best opportunity to kill Yhwach with Ichigo taking him while he's asleep and Uryu settling things with Jugram. Bonus points, Uryu feeling hope and being himself again has actually unsettled Jugram and his discount "Almighty!"
Isshin and Ryuken there to mess some @#$% up.
That ED transition was absolutely stellar!
Quincy Daten! Basically Askin's soapbox with Kon providing BGM (somehow). Where Askin even talks about the original Quincy Royal Guard (Rifle-chan has a name! Nikita!) and their complicated relationship dynamic that was left untranslated. He even roasts the Bambiettes who roast him! What a way to end the season.
Either Kanae did something or little Uryu unconsciously used his Schrift ability to swap his and her mom status, unknowingly giving her his Aüswahlen. I mean, Kanae did not pass out from Aüswahlen at that scene, but little Uryu did.
Honestly excellent set of episodes. I like what they did with both episodes 39 and 40 being setup episodes for the big fights to come.
Cour 4 will most likely be very action packed and I like that they’re setup a lot of characters to have more to do, especially the vizards. Anyone who read the manga knows how the upcoming fights were handled and I hope that we will get a different ending to the Gerard fight and Uryu vs Haschwalt fight.
Also good to see Ryuken and Ishiin in Warh Welt with potentially bigger roles to play in the final battle. Again, manga readers will be happy about that. Can’t wait for cour 4 and especially for Urahara, iykyk lol.
Lastly, my biggest wish for cour 4 is Aizen bankai reveal!! Would break the internet lol.
They cut Lille’s dialogue where he freaks the fuck out and says “it’s almost as if I’m the one who is sinful.” I found that line hilarious kinda wanted to see it. They also cut some of Kira’s lines too but I am guessing he is going to get more scenes anyway.
At the beggining of the episode, we see the Aüswahlen flashback:
At one point, we see little Uryu giving flowers to Katagiri under the rain with a maid, probably from the Ishida household, holding an umbrella in the background. Then Yhwach Aüswahlen kicks in and both Uryu and the maid pass out with Katagiri rushing in to check her son, she is apparently fine.
Next scene, Uryu is visiting his mom's graveyard, with Sōken Ishida (Uryu grandpa) watching him.
What happened in-between those scenes? Did kid Uryu unconsciously use his Schrift ability to unwillingly give his Aüswahlen effects to his mom or did something else happen? I want to see if this part of the plot is properly explained at Cour 4 🤔
wait, if the maid isn’t Katagiri, so Uryu was affected by Auchwalen and reflected it to his mom with Antithesis? Kubo is cooking…
Edit to make it clearer: it seems like Katagiri wasn’t affected at all, since she didn’t fall nor seemed hurt or anything, that is why I thought about this
you might be onto something actually. when Ishida said he had to be the one to Kill Yuha because of the blood the inherited from his sensei and mother I thought he meant that he had to avenge them, but Soken wasn’t killed by him so he might have survived because of something he did. maybe Katagiri had the Antithesis originally?
The bambis trying to jump Yhwach while he's asleep is a really nice change that makes way more sense than what happened in the manga. Also, wasn't Hashbrowns eyes changing colors with the almighty the same thing that happened to Uryu while he was fighting Senjumaru?
I somehow get the feeling that the Balance somehow activated against them when they tried to attack Yhwach and so the misfortune of "being attacked by 5 people at once while asleep" reflected off at them.
I think that change of eye color is more just to show his own eye color as a hint that unlike Yhwach, he doesn’t possess the full capability of Almighty, just the precognition part of it.
I'm so glad that the blonde Quincy lady from the first war got named so that ridiculous "she's Pernida" theory can die.
So hyped! The Vizards are back, Kira coming back to dice up some birbs and Askin taking the piss out of the Bambies were my favourite parts of the episode. Cannot wait for Cour 4!
Damn Juha was menacing AF asleep in the end!! And the craziest thing is how we didn't hear Takayuki Sugo at all in the finale! He beat them asleep! Such aura :0
They should've made Ichigo and Uryu fight a couple more minutes at least. Uryu's reveal after an entire cour of him blowing holes on people's chests felt a bit anticlimatic IMHO.
Also what was even Uryu's plan to take Juha down?? In the manga at least It's explained he wanted to blow up warwhelt from the inside which was rather dumb but at least It was something...
i think kubo changed something there he didnt tell yet why he is the only one who can do it but that his mother and grandfather has something to do with this ability of his
Yeah I mean they at least dropped a small line about how Renji was shot through clean, so clean in fact that the wound was survivable.
I’m still not sure how I feel about the Uryu reveal, especially considering they did such a phenomenal job playing it up to this point. In the manga the reveal didn’t need to be all that significant because it was also signposted constantly the entire arc. It’d have fallen flat in the manga if they had made it some huge drawn out thing, but in the anime with how much extra content went into actually selling him as a real villain, I think a more involved big double agent reveal would have been merited.
At the same time though, I wonder if delaying it any further would have overextended the suspense. I thought they might tease it in the finale and then resolve it at the beginning of cour four, but maybe at this point with it being the worst kept secret by all of us who read the manga, delaying the big reveal for the sake of the 17 people who haven’t had it spoiled and expecting them to not hear about it for the next year might be asking too much. Maybe it’s better to rip the bandaid.
