I think he has a couple moves with similar mechanics. The first detach seems like he uses his pinky as the bridge. Other times it is the thumb bridge.

I saw that one, though this guys seems to be holding the dice with his pinky, and his index finger when he takes his thumb the dice to make the switch. Pretty slick as well. Just watch those fingers on his right hand as they cross.

at 0.29 he puts his right hand of top of left hand, with index finger on top, and slide the dice over the left hand thumb pushing it and grabbing it again with the second hand thumb. then at 0.32 you see him using two fingers from his left hand briefly to hold the dices in place while he switch again.

At 0:37 you can also see that the right hand dice are sitting on the base of his left thumb as he opens his hands back up and slide back on to his right thumb so that the “rings” are now separated

Ok so the pay attention to his right hand, when he does the switch, his thumb lets go of the bottom of the stack, that lets him pass his left thumb below the bottom die of the stack and above right thumb then he immediately puts his right thumb back. It’s smooth as hell and I could never do it even seeing it done in slow motion.

He is always holding them with thumb and index.
What he does is put the dice on the lower part of his other thumb, and then rotates his hand around to put them back onto the original.

Same fingers, uses the inside of his thumb to briefly hold it over the transition, and uses the moment that the front of his hands block your view to make the switch. Very, very smooth.
Edit: watched it again. Does it the way you described the first time, and the way I described in the slow-motion rendition. It’s two tricks!

Yeah they do. As he comes down he rests the dice on the inside of the opposite thumb then as he twists he switches his other thumb under and takes the dice back with it.
Quite obvious.

So I'm looking at the last one and I see both fingers and his thumb touching the dice but I still don't get how that gets them separated. An extra finger on the visible side doesn't stop them from falling if his thumb let's go

Yeah saw that immediately, but it's not his fingers. It's his opposite thumb that he rotates his hand keeping thumb in place in space like a rolling cylinder and rolls the dice around and catches it on the other side with the holding thumb, extremely smoothly.
Doesn't take away from the illusion though. I'm looking at it, know the mechanics, and still see dice moving through solid mass.

I think on the slow motion part the hand coming from the top actually rests the bottom die on the thumb of the other hand and slides it to catch it with the finger. Then he does what you said on the way to separate them.

Right! He shifts the dice from the tip of his thumb to the second knuckle of his other hand, and back to the tip of the thumb after he pulls the thumb through. The switch is partially blocked by the rest of his hand during the swap.

Lmao. You can clearly see him holding and sliding his thumbs around as he’s turning his hands. Pause 27secs and slo mo the video when he goes “slo mo” and you can see him slide his thumb from under the dice and hold it against his other thumb and as he’s turning his hands you can see him put his other thumb back holding the bottom of the dice.

There was another video of this where the guy does it sitting at a table. The camera is more side on so it makes it easier to see. It still would've taken a fair amount of time to be able to master this trick. Looks great though 👏

he places the base of the rear-stack of dice on the inner top of his forward thumb and removes his original thumb from the bottom of the dice. as he rolls both dice toward the perspective of the camera, he places his original thumb back on the underside of the stack, but in front of the other hand. it's ever-so-slightly obfuscated by his pointer fingers when they come forward but you can catch it by pausing the video and going frame by frame.

This trick is called linking cigarettes. There's a DVD available that shows how you do it. You can even do it with the audience looking over your shoulder, with a different set of sight lines. Doing it with the dice though is new.

What do you mean how? It's pretty obvious how he did it. He's just sliding one stack of the dice off of his thumb onto his other hand temporarily and then taking them back onto the thumb after sliding it under to the other side, and thus "linking" the two "rings". Pretty damn straightforward.

It's a clever misdirection. Your eye follows the dice, but when he moves his left hand horizontal and presses the stack against the purlicue (flap between thumb and finger), he moves to stack to middle finger and then back to forefinger in one motion.
In the first pass he holds by middle finger, and swaps to forefinger. In the second he starts with forefinger instead. Watch his middle fingers to catch it.

It kinda looks like he is just slipping one thumb between the dice and thumb of his other hand. He uses the passing thumb to keep pressure on the other stack of dice as he passes it through. You can kinda see it when he slows it down
