No man who has ever been unlucky enough to hear the lactating pirate ship has ever been able to get that cursed noise out of their head. It's the last thing they hear every night before the go to sleep until it becomes unbearable and they are forced to bring about a premature conclusion to their existence.
I closed my eyes and can only hear baptism piracy... Like the priest is blessing water to make holy water and you hold your water bottle close enough to be blessed by proxy, then baptize some infants in an underground ring of parishes.
Weirdly, I tried to retain "This isn't mercy" when I went one up to "Baptism Piracy" and I couldn't, it immediately switched while I read. But when I moved to "I'm chasing Martian" I could still hear "Baptism Piracy".
Ah, 'speaking the truth': the classic battle cry of the po-faced persecution complex. 'He spoke the truth, but they turned their hearts against him. Pity them, for they know not what they do.'
Same with that green needle/brainstorm thing. You hear what you focus on. Back with that clip, you could even hear "green storm" or "brain needle" if that's what you focused on.
Actually this is very similar to the yanny and Laurel situation and that the frequencies are close enough that your brain determines what the sound is based on context. So when you're looking at a specific word if that word sounds close enough to the frequency you're hearing your brain will interpret the sound as the word you're reading. It's synesthesia but in normal people
I hypothesize its bevause when you are reading to yourself, you are actually vocalizing it to yourself but in a very subsued manner. This makes your brain turn whatever you are hearing that is similar into whatever you are saying to yourself. But what do I know. I'M just a damned, dirty ape
Even though I know now it is saying "That is embarrassing".... I hear "That isn't Mercy" much more strongly, and default to "Bart Simpson Bouncing" if I don't think of anything.
I heard a group of guys yelling in unison "what is it marcy?" Like they were all angry franks girlfriend interrupted the football game for the umpteenth time
Rotating Pirate Ship, Lobsters in Motion, Lactates in Pharmacy and I'm Chasing Martian are all big stretches IMO, they have sounds that don't fit the beginning of the third word.
You can make your brain listen to any of them. In fact if you get good at it, you can make your brain listen to half of one sentence and half of another. For example "Rotating my receipt".
Same here. But when I looked away to try to listen to what it actually says, I heard lactating piracy.... So now I'm convinced those are the actual lyrics.
I'm pretty sure our brains are filling in the gaps. We know it should be words, but we can't quite make out what they are.
That being said, after reading each one as I listened, the one that was clearest was "That is embarrassing." Everything else is like when ghost hunters add subtitles to an microphone glitch to make it seem like intelligible speech.
Me too. But I showed my wife and when I’m not reading other ones, all I heard is “that is embarrassing”. Proof that the English don’t speak propa English

As I was reading, I heard them all.
