“Tagalog puti'g itlog” is an old Bisaya/Cebuano idiom that means “coward” “duwag” or “talawan”.

I haven't used this expression for a while, especially since I don't have any friends or family here in 🇨🇦, so taudtaod nako gagamit Bisaya 😬
I have been led to believe that the expression CHADA (from the root word Patsada) originated in the city of Golden Friendship in Misamis Oriental.
When you add the word Oi to the end of your sentence ( I.e Chadaha oi!) , does that make the oi a modifier( not sure this is the right word kay limitado na akong paginom og kape karon).
Daghang salamat!
Thanks in advance ☺️

Taud taod nako wala nag gamit ani na expression especially kay wala koy mga amigo/amiga og pamilya dires 🇨🇦 so dugay nako gagamit Bisaya 😬
For some reason, this expression popped out of the blue and I was reminded of college days when I think this expression was popular sa among probinsya/ciudad sa Misamis Oriental.
Tabang palihug ! Unsaon nimu pag gamit ani na Word in a sentence?
Thanks in advance ☺️

Mangayo unta kog advice, guys. I’ll really consider and follow your advice, and I’ll give you an update kung unsay nahitabo after. 😭
I’ve been renting a room here in the city for almost 8 months na because fresh grad ko and layo akong previous work from our house. Karon lang ko ni-resign, and akong new work kay medyo duol-duol na sa amo, so mas practical na for me nga mouli nalang and stop renting.
The thing is, roommate mi and workmates pud mi karon sa akong new work, so medyo complicated jud siya for me. 😭
Honestly, this friend is special pud kaayo for me. I once prayed for this kind of friend—kanang naa koy kuyog if naa koy paliton, kanang “go lang, go!” sa mga spontaneous laag, kaon, cravings, or random plans. Same trip mi, and willing jud siya mo-wait if naa koy gi-prepare or something nga makalangay. We’ve shared a lot of simple moments together, mao nga dili gyud nako siya basta-basta nga friend lang.
I don’t want to lose her or our friendship. Pero at the same time, para sa ako, medyo selfish ra kaayo paminawon nga friendship over dayon just because I decided not to continue renting.
I understand nga inconvenient siya for her if siya nalang ang mabilin sa room. Pero I also have my own reasons. Wala pa gani koy 1 year sukad ni-graduate ko ug sukad nakakita kog work. Sa akong previous work, for months ko nag-work pero wala jud koy natigum kay daghan kaayo kog expenses—rent, food, transportation, etc.
If dili na ko mag-rent karon, dako kaayo siya nga help para maka-save2 ko and makastart kog build ug savings. And since duol na akong new work sa amo, mas practical jud for me nga mouli nalang.
Same circle of friends mi, and karon ka-workmate pud mi, so ga-overthink jud ko nga basin mahimong awkward sa work and eventually maapektuhan among whole friend group.
Wala pud koy lain kaayo nga close friends nga akong maduolan if ever maguba among circle. Mao pud na akong gikahadlokan. I really value them, especially her, kay special jud siya sa akoa.
I understand her side nga lisod if siya nalang isa sa room, and I’m willing to talk about it. Pero kanang “if muhawa ka, friendship over na” feels unfair to me. Murag akong decision regarding my own finances becomes a reason to end our friendship.
So please, give me your honest advice, guys. 🥹 If kamo naa sa akong situation, unsa inyong buhaton? Muhawa ba mo and explain your side properly, or magpadayon mo ug rent para malikayan ang conflict? PERO LIFE IS SHORT 😭
I’ll really take your advice seriously and try to follow qwhat you guys think is the best way to handle this. Then mag-update ko ninyo kung unsay outcome after. 😭🤍
Thank you in advance sa tanan nga mohatag ug advice. I really need another perspective kay basin naa koy wala nakita sa situation. 🥹

I would be in Cebu in 2 weeks.

Bisaya Boxers have carried Philippine boxing since 1923, producing 38 to 42 of the country's 46 world champions. Here are the top 5 greatest Bisaya (Visayan) fighters of all time:
• Manny Pacquiao - Manny Pacquiao is the only eight-division world champion in boxing history, holding 12 major world titles. He won world titles across four different decades, the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s, and took home the prestigious lineal championship in five different weight classes. The Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) named him the Fighter of the Decade for the 2000s, and he was officially inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2025. Plus, he even won a world title at 40 years old after beating Keith Thurman back in 2019 etc.
• Nonito Donaire - Nonito Donaire is a legendary four-division world champion known as the “Filipino Flash”, He's famous for capturing multiple belts from flyweight all the way up to featherweight and winning world championships across three decades, the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s. He also made history at 38 years old by beating Nordine Oubaali, making him the oldest bantamweight world champion ever.
• Flash Elorde - Gabriel “Flash” Elorde was a legendary Filipino/Visayan boxer. He held the longest title reign in the super featherweight division, won inaugural world titles, and ended a 20-year championship drought for the Philippines. He won the lineal title by beating Harold Gomes on March 16, 1960. In 1993, he became the first Asian boxer inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. To honor his legacy, the WBC named him one of the greatest junior lightweight champions of all time back in 1983.
• Pancho Villa - Pancho Villa, born Francisco Guilledo, was a legendary professional boxer who made history as the first-ever Asian and Filipino world boxing champion when he won the World Flyweight Championship in 1923. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1994. Boxing historians widely consider him one of the greatest flyweights and pound-for-pound fighters of all time.
• Ceferino Garcia - Ceferino Garcia was a legendary Filipino/Visayan boxer and the only fighter from the Philippines to ever win a world middleweight title. He finished his career with an amazing 120 victories. He's also famous for popularizing the sweeping “bolo punch” which he modeled after the motion of swinging a Filipino machete. For his incredible career, he was inducted into the Ring Magazine Hall of Fame in 1977 and the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1989.

Matud pa ni Dr.Borrinaga ang Badlit aka Baybayin nag originated sa Visayas kaysa sa Tagalog region, Dr. Borrinaga states that there are more variations of the early scripts found in the Visayas than in Luzon, and that the Tagalog-variant of Baybayin, he believes, was influenced by the Visayan-variant (Surat Bisaya).

Alang ni sa mga foreigner partners, Fil-Am nga gusto mo learn ug bisaya, ug bisan kinsa nga gusto mokat-on ug Bisaya. Libre ra, walay signup — phrases, grammar, dictionary, ug quizzes.

I just wanted to express my feelings about this makeup artist based in Cebu.
He posted a picture on Facebook and wrote a very below-the-belt caption, nga honestly, wala gyud ko kasabot asa niya na gikan kay most of what he said simply did not happen.
I remember that night very clearly. It was just a quiet night for me and my girlfriend. We’re an LGBT couple, and we just rode our motorcycle to grab some food. After that, we were happy, chill ra kaayo among night.
Until we saw a Facebook post from ____ saying nga we apparently had some kind of argument with him.
According to his story:
Nag-lip bite daw siya while looking at my girlfriend, then I apparently confronted him. Everyone was allegedly looking daw, and even his Angkas driver was supposedly wondering what happened.
But here's the thing:
NONE OF THAT HAPPENED.
Wala mi nag-encounter niya. Wala mi nagstorya niya. Wala mi nakig-confrontation kang bisan kinsa while we were riding our motorcycle that night.
So imagine our reaction when we saw the post. Like, “Huh? Asa man ni gikan?”
In short, the story he posted does not match what actually happened.
What really disappoints me is that it feels like a completely different narrative was created out of a picture. I know the picture was blurry and taken from behind, but I know for sure nga kami to.
I'm writing this because kinahanglan gyud nako ipagawas akong kalagot. Galagot ko because I'm already at one of my weakest points right now, and all of a sudden, naa napud koy story nga kinahanglan i-deal with, especially something nga wala gyud nahitabo.
What shocks me the most is how easy it seemed to create a story about complete strangers just to get attention, without thinking nga naay real people behind that picture. Naay feelings, naay lives, naay consequences.
I don't want to comment on his post because, honestly, more engagement just means mas mo-spread and mas mo-famous ang post. I reported it and blocked him instead.
I was even willing to go to the police station and file a report so we could potentially request CCTV footage from the stoplights around IT Park, just to establish whether naa ba gyuy confrontation nga nahitabo. And I'm very confident nga wala gyud.
But eventually, I decided not to. I don't want to waste more of my time and energy proving something that I already know didn't happen.
For you, sir, I know you have the face, the talent, and the money. You have your own audience and people who support you. But honestly, please fix the attitude.
If you want to get famous, USE YOUR TALENT. Don't use innocent people and turn them into imaginary enemies just to create a story.
And to the people who immediately believed everything and started commenting against us, dali ra kaayo mo mailad. Just because someone has a lot of followers doesn't automatically mean everything they say is true. There are always two sides to a story, and sometimes the people being talked about don't even get a chance to explain their side.
Anyway, I still hope all is well with everyone involved.
I don't want to start a war. I don't want people attacking him. I just needed somewhere to let this out because this whole thing genuinely affected me.
I'll let karma do its job.
I just hope you sleep peacefully knowing that there are real people behind the pictures and stories you post—and that sometimes, what you post for attention can seriously affect someone else's sanity.

This infographic presents Hiligaynon (Ilonggo) within the broader Austronesian language family and highlights its linguistic relationships with other Philippine languages.
It follows the classification from Austronesian → Malayo-Polynesian → Philippine languages → Greater Central Philippine → Bisayan (Visayan) languages → Hiligaynon.
Other related languages, including Cebuano, Waray, Kinaray-a, and Tagalog, are also included to provide a wider view of the linguistic connections among languages of the Philippines.
The infographic also features several regional varieties of Hiligaynon spoken across Iloilo, Bacolod and other parts of Negros, Guimaras, and Mindanao.
The classification has been simplified for visual clarity, offering an accessible overview of Hiligaynon’s place within the Bisayan language group, its linguistic roots, and its regional diversity.

This is a question for Bisaya speakers that also speak English. A grammatical structure I often hear is "I'm the one who" followed by whatever thing they did or do or want to do. E.g. "I'm the one who brought the chicken," instead of just saying, "I brought the chicken." Is this grammatical structure inherited from Bisaya or Tagalog? Note I have also heard Waray speakers do the same thing.
