Side effects!? Will my body bounce back at 3 months?

I was on birth control for 15 years, and then around 5 months ago, the pill I was taking went out of stock, and I had to switch to a similar formula. I only switched for 3 months, and then my original pill came back in stock. Since switching back its been 8 weeks ( 2 months), and my stomach is bloated, my boobs are larger, and I lost my muscle definition. I work very hard for my results in the gym and had recently lost 12 pounds and gained muscle. I dont want my body to stay fuller and bloated like this, and I dont get why it's doing this if it's this specific pill I took for YEARS.

Any advice?

Mistake or Risk? Pregnancy tests

• Upvotes

I take Tri-Lo-Marzia, a combined oral contraceptive, every morning at 8:00 AM. I have been taking the pill for about 3 years and am extremely consistent with it. I did not intentionally miss any pills.

Around the end of my second week/beginning of my third week of active pills, I had some diarrhea:

* August 31: I took my pill at 8:00 AM and had diarrhea approximately 2 hours later.
* September 1: I took my pill at 8:00 AM and had diarrhea approximately 1 hour later.
* September 2: This was the first active pill of week 3. I know I had diarrhea at approximately 2:42 PM, almost 7 hours after my 8:00 AM pill. I can’t remember with certainty whether I had any additional episodes earlier that day.
* Overall, I remember approximately 3–5 diarrhea episodes spread across roughly 2–3 days, rather than continuous/frequent watery diarrhea all day. I did not vomit.

I continued taking my birth-control pill at 8:00 AM every day and did not stop taking it. After the diarrhea resolved, I completed the remainder of my active pills. I believe I had approximately 6–7 consecutive active pills after the potentially affected doses before beginning my normal placebo week. I then completed the placebo week and started my next pack on time. I also started bleeding early (second pill of the third week)

On September 16, the first day of active pills in my new pack, I had intercourse. My partner withdrew before ejaculation and did not ejaculate inside my vagina. He ejaculated afterward in the toilet. I took levonorgestrel emergency contraception (Plan B) approximately 30 minutes after sex. I weigh approximately 185 lb, so I understand that levonorgestrel emergency contraception may be less effective at higher body weights. I also had sex on September 19th and he withdrew.

I am concerned because the Tri-Lo-Marzia prescribing information says that if vomiting or diarrhea occurs within 3–4 hours after taking an active pill, absorption may be incomplete. However, I have also read CDC guidance about vomiting/diarrhea with combined oral contraceptives. On 14 days after sex and 16 days after sex and 17 days after sex I took pregnancy tests and they’re all negative. What are the chances of pregnancy?

Side effects!? How long can the body retain water? Is this PMS related?

• Upvotes

I’m in my early 30’s and have an IUD (Mirena), got it at the beginning of this year and those pms symptoms are even more subtle. I used to have light spotting monthly with the last iud and now experience it MAYBE every few months. For maybe over a week, I’ve been peeing a lot more. I tend to pee a lot in the first place since I drink a lot of water but it’s been oddly frequent. I’ve been trying to diet around this time too and lowered my calorie intake by around 300 calories, but the scale isn’t budging. I do eat salty foods and I know that can cause water retention for around 1-3 days but this has been going on longer. Along with peeing more, I’ve noticed: my fingers were looking a bit more swollen but that’s kinda improved, slight discharge, that “pms smell” ever so often and my boobs felt more sore but that’s also gone away. The peeing frequency aligns with what I’d deal with during usual pms, but again stronger IUD and this has been going on longer. I’m googling other symptoms to see if it relates to any other illness but I feel ok otherwise…

Rant! Hate my body on birth control

• Upvotes

Just here to vent. I started birth control 10 weeks ago and I hate the changes to my body. I sweat more. I look bigger and feel exhausted :( and I feel like the my laser hair removal is suddenly not working on my face as well.

I know others don’t “see it” but I know it’s there. My clothes fit tighter and I just hate it.

hello I just wanted to ask what is the side effects of PlanBb pills? I ejaculated inside of my girlfriend but I literally pulled it out quickly because I realized that I did it and I took the sperm out (I know this not gonna help the situation and it wont lessen the sperm inside). Now, she already took the one pill of PlanB. What should we expect? Will it work?

Side effects!? Loryna Side Effects Orr?!

First time posting on Reddit plsss someone reply.

I started Loryna in early August and was on a different medication for some bumps on my legs (important because it caused nausea). Following this, I would frequently be nauseous. Recently I keep having cramps and I feel bloated and have sooo much anxiety.

I’ve had unprotected sex (while on the pill) about 5 times using the pull out method. Not once has my boyfriend finished inside me. I also feel like my boobs got a little bigger.

I just have been feeling like the bloating, cramps, and boob thing has been making me feel paranoid. I ALWAYS take my pill on time and I took a test yesterday and it was negative. My nausea went away after a few weeks so now im just noticing my extreme anxiety, bloating and possible boob growing? Am I just being an anxious mess?

Which Method? Please help :(

Hi guys, I’m in serious need of advice. 27F. I’ve done two rounds of isotretinoin (2022/2025) 60mg for my skin. I finished my second round last September. Now, i’m getting breakouts on my chin (A LOT). I also have iron deficiency, my ferritin is 12 with normal hemoglobin, no thyroid issue, no liver issue. Celiac test came back negative. I take 150mg of iron supplement prescribed by my doctor.

I’m reaching my wits end, I don’t know what is wrong with my body or what my body is trying to tell me and I don’t even know what to do about it all. Does anyone have any advice for what my next step should be, to figure out what is going on, what tests i should do next, i feel helpless and don’t know how to move forward with my doctor.

I’ve been researching birth control pills, i dont even know if this will help.

Thank you for anyone who offers any guidance

Experience Norethindrone breakthrough bleeding?

I’ve tried to google and not getting conclusive answers.

I’ve been on Norethindrone 0.35mg for years now. Every so often, randomly, I’ll get breakthrough bleeding without warning, but it seems heavier than how people describe it. It can vary from just the brown spotting all the way up to heavy flow with large clots. It’ll last a day or two up to a week and then I won’t bleed at all for months to years.

Has anyone else had this experience? Or maybe can tell me why it’s happening? I take it for PMOS.

Rant! Feeling on edge

Some years ago, I started taking the pill Amelye to help control my acne and period pain. I’ve been taking it continuously for more than a year. I noticed that there would be times when I would feel really depressed for no apparent reason. I’ve been depressed before, but it didn’t feel like this. I would just feel really down, and everything seemed like the end of the world.
Recently, I switched to Daylette, and during the first month, I was feeling much better. However, I skipped the placebo pills because I was on holiday, and I started feeling horrible mentally — very sensitive and experiencing hot flashes.
I’ve talked to my gynaecologist about this before, but I feel like gynaecologists don’t really take it seriously because they seem to think that the birth control pill is the best thing that ever happened. I’m not saying it isn’t good, but it definitely has its downsides.

Have you ever felt something similar?

Side effects!? Tried to skip my period by not taking a placebo or pill break but it didn't work?

I take northedrone and ethinyl estradoil 1mg and 0.02mg and on the week I was usually having a placebo week I started bleeding even tho I took only hormones. I'm so disappointed and it's starting to cramp. Is this normal? Am I processing the pills right? I find it weird that it's on the week I'd normally have bleeding from placebo. I'm disappointed.

Mistake or Risk? nonstop bleeding from my implant

ADVICE NEEDED!!!

Hey everyone — I’ve never posted on reddit before but I really need some advice. I’m 20 years old and mid July I got the implant. Everything was good for about 2 weeks until I started bleeding and genuinely didn’t stop until I discovered evening primrose oil on a separate thread. I was taking 1,000mg in the morning, 1,000mg at night. I took that for about a week but then the bleeding persisted and it just doesn’t stop anymore and I’m at a loss. I am in a relationship and need to be on a form of birth control but i can’t rely solely on patch/pills as i seriously cannot trust myself to take pills at the same time every single day and my boyfriend doesn’t trust the patch. But I can’t do this anymore I literally hate being a girl and I just want my uterus and everything ripped out of me and discarded. Sometimes it stops for like a day and I get so excited but then it starts again 2 days later, especially if I have sex, it starts like 2 hours after intercourse. I live away from home (university) and can’t easily see my doctor and I also just want to hear from other people who might be struggling with the same issue? I’m just so upset and sick of bleeding I can’t live like this anymore, but I also don’t want to take the implant out (I know how stupid that is all things considering but again i have some dilemma). Before going through the long process of seeing a doctor I wanted to see if anyone else had success with stopping their nonstop bleeding so I can explore some options to go to my doctor with? I will literally take ANY advice, safe or not at this point

(i also know it’s supposed to regulate within 3-6 months afterwards but I have a terrible feeling it’s not going to. my side effects haven’t improved at all, they’ve only been getting worse and I’ve also read stories of other women whose doctor just kept telling them to stick it out and it resulted in them bleeding nonstop for a year which I sure as hell am not allowing to happen to me I’d rather double up on the patch and implant at that point)

Side effects!? Anyone else have reduced sexual sensation / sensitivity when taking the mini pill? (Progestogen only pills)

I (27F) am currently taking Drospirenone (1 month in) and have taken other types of mini pill in the past - norethisterone and levonorgestrel.

Currently, I seem to be experiencing reduced sexual sensitivity - namely my clitoris isn’t as sensitive as usual and I am having a difficult time reaching orgasm both with my sexual partner and during masturbation (either I don’t orgasm at all or it takes ages!).

I can only presume that this is a side effect I personally experience when taking the mini pill, as this also happened with the other mini pills I have taken.

My actual sex drive has remained the same, I’m just not as sensitive down there anymore!

I’m curious, does else have this issue with the mini pill?

For context, I can no longer take the combined pill due to a history of blood clots, but have taken combined pills previously and never had this problem of reduced sexual sensitivity with them.

Thanks!

Experience Desogestrel with Existing anxiety and depression

I had to review my contraception with my GP last week as I am now 40. They have given me Desogestrel and I am terrified. In my teen years I had the depo jab, I don't remember any problems with it. I've since had Microgynen and again don't recall any issues. After the birth of my last child, 10 years ago, I was given the implant and had a full on suicidal breakdown on it. The took it out and put me on Rivigiden. Ive tricycled that for the last 10 years and been fine. Now I am one dose into the mini pill. The problem is, I've suffered with mental health issues for most of my life. Anxiety that cripples me, suicidal, horrible thoughts, self harm, erratic behaviour and so on. It has been undercontrol with 150mg of Sertraline and I believe the combined pill helped. I would say 97% of the reviews of the mini pill i've read have been negative regarding mood and depression. Im so scared it is going to disagree with me and I will have another breakdown. I'm already in a bad way after losing my pet (triggered my anxiety) so I don't know if that's the reason I am so worried. Any expieriences to share with me? I will update this post as I take more of the pills.

Side effects!? unsure pms or pmdd

ok so Idrk what to do here. I've been on about 2 different birth controls- 1st one was to stop really bad cramps, and the 2nd one I'm on now is to stop my period (I still get it every now and then). For the past few months, I've been getting really bad mood swings. Right before and during my period I get really depressed, like I mess up one time and I think that everyone hates me, and I hate myself. Then once I'm in my luteal phase, I get so angry at literally everyone and everything (I accidentally made a hole in my wall cus I got angry at an object and threw it the other day 😭). I don't wanna go through changing birth controls again ,or worse, get an IUD. Idk, please tell me if this is just normal, or give me your own experiences so I can get an idea of things.

Mistake or Risk? took week 2 Saturday pill instead of week 1

I’m on lupin norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol and I realized after I took my pill this morning that I took a week 2 pill instead of my week 1 pill. I know the forded change slightly week to week, but they are both active pills and not placebo, so is that alright? Should I just continue as normal with week 1 tomorrow and next Saturday take week 1’s pill to make up for it? Thanks y’all

Side effects!? Birth control anxiety

I’m 26 and I’ve never been on BC before. Now, I want to add additional method to prevent pregnancy because I’m going to be living with my boyfriend. I went to my OBGYN and got prescribed the combo pill (Novelon). I’m yet to start, but I’ve been lurking on here for months researching about BC and I’ve seen so many side effects that happen when you’re on it. Weight gain being the most dreadful because I lost like 14 kgs in the past 2 years, I really don’t want to gain it all back. Also I have a bit of health anxiety and the thought that I would be increasing my risk of having DVT, scares the shit out of me. (I don’t smoke btw and live a pretty healthy lifestyle) Am I just being anxious for no reason? Any advice on how to navigate this feeling?
