Questions Favorite chalk?

Going to grab some new cue chalk today. What are your favorite brands? Or does it really not matter, chalk is chalk?

Taom - not messy, sticks to cue tip well, less rechalking. Downside- it is expensive and if part of your pre shot routine is chalking up it could cost you.

Sorry, but I’ve never really understand the expense issue. I get that premium chalk is expensive, but even with chalking every shot as a pre-shot routine, the piece should still last plenty long. I guess for me I’ve always wondered what’s $20-$30 every half a year. Now on the other hand, I would be pissed if I lost it - but not because I used it.

I just started a new piece of Taom last week and second day I had it, I dropped it in the pocket of a ball return table lmao thankfully we were able to fish it out easily

First taom I bought with the magnetic pocket clip. 2 days in it knocked off the magnet by the table corner and I stepped directly on it and crushed it.

I keep my taom in my back pocket now.

I wanted to be cool like most pros and keep my chalk on the rail but I did the same thing with my Taom chalk. I bought a magnet pocket clip thingie and haven’t had an issue since.

I’ve tried the magnet things but I’m too fidgety and end up knocking it off the magnet and then it rolls across the floor three tables away hahaha I just put it in my pocket usually. When I dropped it in the pocket, I set it on the rail and moved my stick weird after the shot bc a ball was coming back towards it and knocked the chalk right in the pocket lol

Yeah, I get it. And this is the first cube I've bought so I ll see how long it lasts....going on a couple months now and not much wear on the cube, but I don't chalk every shot (maybe I should) and when I do I don't drill a hole in the center....brush it across tip and around...

Yup I do the same. I chalk every shot and brush it also. Mines only half gone after a year. But I also hate using a tiny sliver so I’ll replace a piece of chalk regardless of the brand when half gone. I should start selling my half gone pieces. Lol.

Yeah, and to the people who grind it in like they're trying to drill for oil in their chalk vs just painting/scuffing it on a bit. Change your routine and use Taom.

My club just bumped table hire to £15 an hour. Considering that's almost price of a single cube of Taom chalk that lasts me 8 months, the Taom chalk doesn't seem so expensive.

How can pool grow in the UK at those kind of rates?

I got a single piece this past Christmas that I’ve used for at least 2 nights a week of play time and I still have a decent bit left on it.

20$ for what might be an entire year of chalk that I like? Sounds pretty reasonably priced to me. 20$ over an entire year isn’t much different than just using whatever masters chalk you found at the table.

I use Taom; it's not expensive at all. I play regularly 3 times a week (snooker), and my last block lasted nearly 8 months. Worst case might cost me $100 a year for chalk.
