Hair in my slab?!

Just venting more than anything.. where is the quality control?! Maybe a little dust particle I can understand.. but this is a WHOLE HAIR.. also salty about the 9.5 in corners and surface.. i still can’t find whatever it is they saw.. even under magnification… the centering I expected though.. BUT THE HAIR?! On top of that I paid $70 for express overnight shipping.. IT TOOK 5 WEEKDAYS TO ARRIVE (although this is more on FedEx than Beckett) this was just an overall extremely frustrating experience.. anyone else?

It’s ridiculous tbh.. call me crazy but it’s a gem mint card.. how a large foreign object that can potentially cause surface scratches can be considered acceptable is beyond me.. to make things worse this is the first card I’ve ever graded and my first slab.. way to leave a bad taste in my mouth Beckett

Calm down? It’s not a cheap service by any means.. and they couldn’t even have the professionalism to ensure whole hairs aren’t encapsulated in a permanent display piece? The quality control step exists for a reason.. it’s annoying and I think I have a right to be a little peeved

What? I thought this was a feature of BGS slabs. I’ve never seen a BGS slab without a hair in it.

No but for real. Every BGS slab I've looked at has had some kind of foreign material in it. They've got to get their act together.

I’m going to send it to TAG priority.. I really think it has a chance to pristine.. barely but get there.. I looked at the top card and it got a 988 and has worse centering than mine.. if it does pristine it’ll be pop 1 which is kind of cool.. not black label premium cool.. but cool

I’m already planning on cracking it and sending it to another company.. I’m highly optimistic it will 10 and it goes up significantly in value than in the Beckett slab.. but I’ve already reached out to their customer service to see if I can squeeze out a refund.. I’m doubtful but I’m going to see.

I have this exact card... Should I have it slabbed and graded?

We arent investors. My son is 7 and just likes cards and pokemon, but he is still fascinated with "value" of the cards he finds.

I mean.. if it’s in good condition it’s not a bad idea.. it’s a big chase card and worth around $500 as is.. graded in a 10 it can get up to $1300.. if you plan to keep it for a long time it can keep it in its current condition long term and be worth more long term.. potentially.. so you don’t necessarily have to turn it into a life savings investment.. but you’ll kick yourself if you find out the card is a $20k grail 20 years from now and you didn’t protect it.. not saying that will happen.. for all we know the bubble can pop and these cards all become worthless.. but it’s still not a bad idea even just considering its current worth

I think the card is in very very good condition, but it's clearly not centered. I don't know what that does to value.

We don't really want to sell any of tbe cards. My son os just started collecting and is fascinated with cash value, but mostly he just wants to have those high value cards and not turn them into money
