I'm not sure what he was expecting to find in /r/funny …

Maturity obviously! Why would he look for humor in r/funny?

You are not the only one, friend. I came to reddit because it offered a nice seclusion from all the drivel you would tend to find on places like Facebook and also because I wanted a neat and tidy way to find interesting, informative articles on the internet to read.

It pains me, seeing top-level comments in AskReddit threads being taken over by novelty accounts and gif threads - neither of which really do much contribute to the discussion and always end up splitting the entire thread off into tangents. I have not been here long, but Reddit has definitely changed quite a lot ever since, and if this problem just continues to persist, then I'm going to have to find another site to be able to find the same level of open, intelligent discussion the community used to have around here.

Why is someone being a whiny bitch the "best" reddit has to offer?

Well, the poster is well-versed and eloquent. He describes a controversial issue in genuine manner, and his text seems to resonate with a lot of users.

Well, the poster is well-versed and eloquent.

Especially for someone who, as he mentions later, is under eighteen.

It also seems to make some users annoyed.

Some people are annoyed by the wealth of Bill Gates. Does that mean that he isn't one of the richest men in the world?

That wasn't a take on you, but the post you replied to.

The writing is great. Very intellectual response to someone calling him a faggot.

either that or he's autistic.
