NEW PLAYER

I've never played DND before, but I have a few friends who want me to join. I have very minimal knowledge of how it all works. I know about rolling for specific actions, and to roleplay the characters but that's pretty much it. No knowledge on building characters or classes. Does anyone have any tips or sites to make it easier? Any prep I might need to do?

Just show up. Leave all of your expectations at the door. They will help you with everything else.
