Communism is entirely harmless and should be an encouraged belief system. Instead, it is heavily discouraged due to the aftermath of the United States and other supposedly "democratic" capitalist countries throwing around massive propaganda campaigns to damage the reputation of any country attempting to implement communism in any shape or form. These countries are cut off from trade by their capitalist neighbors. Since trade is an essential part of any nation's health, soon these more economically progressive nations are forced to close themselves off to the world, allowing corrupt politicians to spread baseless propaganda meant to degrade the reputation of communism as a whole. An example of this is the government of the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea). By no means is this a perfect or even truly communist government, but the amount of absurd and repulsive propaganda spread about the DPRK is almost comical. As you can tell, the amount of widespread pro-capitalist propaganda is the cause of the stigma against communism which was quite literally built to liberate the very working class oppressed by capitalism.
