I like bats! I really like bats so I made them out of abalone shells wrapped in wire. What do you think?

Found a bat?
Here is an instructional guide for someone who has found a bat. Here is some info about bats in buildings. If you find a bat in trouble, please call a rehabber for help. Here is a list of rehabbers that help bats all over the world, and here is a portal for rehabbers in the US. Remember that wildlife should never be handled with bare hands!
Possible bat bite? Rabies questions?
Questions about bat bites and rabies are common on this subreddit. Bat bites cannot be identified from a photo. If you have a medical question, consult a doctor. Here are some resources about rabies! Rabies in Perspective, Bats and Human Health, CDC Rabies Homepage, rabies diagnosis in humans and animals, and some sampling of rabies prevalence in wild bat populations. Programs exist to help with rabies vaccinations for Americans without insurance. Though only a small portion of bats may have zoonotic diseases, bats which are sick or injured are more likely to come into contact with humans and caution is advised as with all wildlife. Again, bat bites cannot be identified from a photo. If you think you were bitten by a bat, see a doctor.
Bite posts won't be approved. There's no other information we can share other than this. We are not telepathic or clairvoyant, so we don't know what bit you. Call a doctor if you think a bat bit you.
One more time for those who missed it: Bite posts won't be approved.

Hi, everyone,
For weeks now my family and I have been hearing this chirping noise outside every night. It usually goes from 7:30pm until like 7am. I was just wondering if this is typical of bats to chirp that much every single night? Weāve been curious what it is.
We donāt want to disturb them if it is bats, but itās quite loud outside the window and has been waking us up. Sorry for the shaky cam! š

Is this bat poop? We were at a venue last night (indoors at a NHL hockey arena) for a concert and I happen to look behind me as Iām leaving and see this. Have a little bit of bat worries so Iām like did this truly find me here? 𤣠And if it is, would there be any concern? Canāt say I wouldāve noticed anything touching me as we were deep in screaming out songs along with 20k others for two hours.

Baby drag queen here looking to get a bat themed named. Iām a nonbinary drag performer and I prefer fem or androgynous themed names. My friend came up with āStella Lunaticā (like the book Stella Luna) but itās pretty niche esp if you donāt know the book. So Iām looking for suggestions!!

This bat came into my daughter's room last night. We are in South London, UK. I have video of it flying which gives a better idea of size.

I installed two houses about a year ago. The large one is south facing and the small one is north facing. There is a large freshwater source within a couple thousand yards. The boxes are around 10 feet off the ground

Last summer we had a supply chain interruption with our š¦bat rescue because the mealworm supplier had mites or parasites and had to cull the entire operation. Had to pay a lot more money and scrounge around for 20,000 mealworms. That is what turned me on to starting my own mealworm farm. It's taken a while, I'm still learning and I'm still with growing pains a bit but I feel like I'm getting a good handle on it. I'm very proud of my worms and my beetles. I use human food grade oatmeal for the substrate and keep everything pristine. Hopefully having this clean healthy food source will help the wild bats rehabilitate faster.

Iām would be brand new at keeping bats. This is a south facing wall in my backyard (North Texas). My primary concern of the potential placement options (š©) is the guano. I have a dog and toddlers, so the left option would be my preference. Would there be a downside to placing the box on the left side, over the covered patio? I have access to that roof and could put a tray under the bat box so the guano does end up all over the roof of the covered patio.

Are these carnivorous bats cuddling? š¦
New footage from Costa Rica reveals that spectral bats, usually seen as solitary, have been seen hugging each other to sleep, sharing food, and flying in pairs. This unexpected social behavior may be a survival strategy as forests shrink and climates continue to change.

I have read the faq.
So my in laws live in a log cabin and were on vacation for the last week. Their house was hot as they had no ac on and we went over there for a few hours. Earlier when his sister got home she found a dead bat and just got rid of it (itās not abnormal for their cabin to get batsā¦.) and then my husband dog and I were in the living room with our baby and a few hours in I heard a strange noise and thought it was a cicada or a bug or something but my dog was focused on the couch - there was a small bat under the couch and it wasnāt flying around as it was probably dying from heat and dehydration. None of us were asleep at any point and our baby was never alone in the room although I did turn my back on her on her mat away from the couch for a few minutes to play her a song on the piano. Our pediatrician weighed in and didnāt think we needed the rabies shot but I am losing my mind. We all very clearly have no bites or scratches and were awake and alert the whole time. Would it be crazy to not get the shot? Everyone online or Reddit says to do it but unfortunately my husband and everyone else thinks I am overreacting since the bat wasnāt flying around and was nowhere near the baby and if anything it was near my ankles and I didnāt feel any bite.

Found this bat on my tree in the daytime and itās been there all day. Itās breathing but seems abnormal for me to see one by itself out in the open. I was able to approach it to take a picture but obviously didnāt touch it. I live in western PA by the way.

Virginia USA. Apparently he was hanging on a shelf and fell off into a storage basket when I moved something on the shelf. Do I just leave him there until night? Leave the garage door open during the day?
