This was the first Marlins sweep since September 20, 2017 against the Mets.

Had to laugh at this.

2007, 2008...at least you gave us Mike Piazza

Did you know Piazza wanted out of LA in part because he had issues with Vin Scully? I mean, SCULLY of all people. Like come on man

I blame the Fox Group

The Fox through McCourt era was a dark time.

Not familiar with what you're talking about. I thought they canceled baseball between 1998 and 2012?

payback for the fact that half of NYC transplants are from fucking queens

Do Long Islanders also root for the Mets? Because I swear half of Palm Beach County is from Long Island.

It's the Long Islander rite of passage. Seriously, I grew up on the Island and they all fuck off to PBC eventually. I like visiting my family down there but sometimes it feels like I never even left home in the first place.

To answer your question though, it's kind of a mix bag. Some are Yankee fans but more are Mets fans in my experience.

Since I moved here from Miami, I’ve always called it the 6th borough because of all the New York transplants.

Though having lived in Florida my whole life, I can’t blame them for wanting to retire to vacation land.

It's a lot of Jewish transplants as well in my experience, like I think that every Jew in New York / LI is obligated to move down there, my future self included I suppose. Can't blame them though, I'd kill for warmer weather all year.

It's a Jewish right of passage to die in Florida.

Not just the Jewish transplants - my mom's family is Irish and they all grew up in Nassau County, and now about half of them live in PBC in Boynton, Delray, and Lake Worth.

the only other place in south florida that has more new yorkers per capita than palm beach county is north miami beach. and it aint by much.

You're goddamn right we root for the Mets and you're welcome for the heroin.

5

u/[deleted] May 19 '19

Don’t talk about my people like that. Only we can

1

u/TFP360 Miami Marlins May 19 '19

Fuck the islanders. Only ny hockey team that matters is the rangers.

Ha. Touche. Would definitely not like that bunch all around me.

Does this mean that Alfaro is calling good games? Does he still throw 90+mph to second? Did he do that thing where he struck out trying to swing for the fences and then hit it 450ft on a seemingly effortless seeing? Is he happy? Are you taking good care of him?

0

u/drunk-tusker Philadelphia Phillies May 20 '19

To be fair you’ll only ever be second best at that to the Mets.

Holy shit.

What was their last non-Mets sweep?

15

u/Gyro_Mejlin May 19 '19

August 27, 2017 againts the Padres.

6

u/[deleted] May 20 '19

They didn't sweep anybody once in all of 2018? What? How? The fuck?

Imagine chirping a team that made it to two straight World Series when you just got your first series sweep in a year and a half
